Guest guest
Dawn, I completely understand where you are coming from. I swear, out of 28 years of my life, and half of those in pain, I was forever told to grow up and stop acting like a baby. I resent my childhood with family members because I was labled a whiner....I learned to just step back, take a deep breath, and when all else fails, ignore them as much as they ignore me. > You know... just when you think you've heard it all. > > I've explained this to my sister a million times, what FMS is. Guest guest
I know this is so after the fact :-( [sorry] but yes I sure know how that feels. Had a similar thing with my dad yesterday when he called and said "what the hell are you doing in bed at 11:00??" :-( [razza frazza mumble....] ANY time I've even suggested he read a pamphlet on Lupus or anything... he won't do it. He does not want to know... It isn't just because he doesn't want to hear his daughter is sick either. He is just so stubborn and for some reason wants to believe it isn't so bad and I should have my butt out there working. I can't tell you how this problem has damaged our relationship. I was heartbroken for so long. Some people though I think "mean well" and truly just don't understand, but perhaps when set straight, will understand better. I know it's impossible for them to fully understand; no one can unless they are in the same shoes. But it sure hurts to have your own family not even try to understand or really; to flat out refuse to. xo {{{Dawn}}} li ----- Original Message ----- I've explained this to my sister a million times, what FMS is. What does shedo now? I write to her and explain that I'm in pain today and my cane isback with me (she knows I borrowed it from first, my mom second) andshe writes,"Fibromyalgia? Isn't that some muscle thing? Shouldn't you see a muscledoctor?"I'm so upset right now. It just validates that I am not important enough formy own family to listen to. Guest guest
Some people just don't get it - I go to church with a woman that I would really like if only she would not ask me every single week, "Are you better yet?" - How many ways can you nicely say, no, not now, not ever? We've been having this conversation for 3 years now; I finally stopped trying to explain to her because I have better things to do with my life than explain fibro over & over to her.I'm glad we have each other for understanding! Other wise there would be alot of ticked off fibromites loose in the world about ready to kill the people around them! (ok, if not kill atleast gag them with duct tape...)jen t Monitor your Hotmail inbox from MSN Messenger while chatting with friends – see how!
