: Why can't I think?

Matt, I suggest you ask the neurologist these questions. I'm here to get

people off drugs.

BTW, taking a few supplements you chose yourself for a month and a half is

not an appropriate way to go about that.

You seem to think your problem is Zyprexa-specific. It's not. It's

psychotropic drug specific. Taking antipsychotic drugs do this to people.

Taking yet another drug is only a further assault on the brain. While

Zyprexa was once the cause, you add insult to injury when you kept taking

other drugs.

Time off drugs while giving your body what it can utilize to heal is the

only thing that works. We have people here who once couldn't think and now

can. It's all about time and proper raw material for healing.

If you come to a point where you want to utilize this site for its

intended purpose, I'd be glad to help.

Regards,

I suppose this question could be answered by anyone on the list but

is the expert which is why I have posed the question to her. Some

of you, most importantly , probably know something of my history

but I will go over it again briefly here. I was given Zyprexa in a low dose

in April 2005 and after withdrawing from it cold turkey (I didn't know then

what I know now) I suffered extreme withdrawal symptoms followed by an

inability to think. Since then I have been on Risperdal Oral, Risperdal

Injectable, Seroquil, Effexor, Zoloft, Lithium and a few Valium derivatives,

but I still feel all of my problems are as a result of that abrupt Zyprexa

withdrawal. Incidentally, I am still taking Zyprexa as it is addictive and I

absolutely cannot sleep without it.

You can imagine what I think of this drug Zyprexa and the people who make

it, Eli Lilly.

I am thankful that I have now found a Psychiatrist who is intelligent and

that I have a good relationship with. Obviously I wish with my entire souI

that I had never taken any of these drugs, however I believe it will take

medical professionals to bring me back to some semblance of health. I know

you probably feel differently , but I haven't completely abandoned

the hope that there is a medical solution to my problem, which put simply is

that I find it impossible to formulate thought inside of my head. I tried

ceasing all of the medication and improving my diet and taking fish oils and

vitamins for about a month and a half but it did not bring any thought back

into my brain.

I am seeing a Neurologist in the next couple of weeks, but my question for

you is as follows: is there a specific part of the brain that

regulates thought or that makes someone think? Or is it more a chemical

reaction and dependant on neurotransmitters? My current Psychiatrist (thank

God for the Canadian National Health Care program) listens very well and he

believes I may be suffering from a shortage of Dopamine, which is the

opposite of what the Zyprexa does, so he prescribed Wellbutrin which is the

only antidepressant which increases the amount of Dopamine in the brain. He

has also suggested Ritalin, as apparently this is used for people who have

suffered brain damage and need to improve their thinking and memory. As far

as I can tell, my sole problem is the fact that I cannot think (which, as

anyone who has experienced it surely will tell you, thinking is a

significant aspect of existence) - I feel that if I could start thinking

again, I would be back to my old self.

, do you know why it is that I cannot think? Is there a part of my

brain that is damaged or is not functioning? Or, are the chemicals in my

head messed up from all these drugs and I am deficient in one specific

neurotransmitter? Any insight you have to offer me on this matter would be

greatly appreciated, I have been a member of the group for awhile now and

have offered my assistance to other group members whenever I thought I had

experience which may have proved helpful.

Best,

Matt McCormack
