wow, Mike, I wanted to donate blood too. A bus comes once a month to my

office bldg and we get free goodies etc for donating. When I told them I had

a few meningiomas they called my Dr and he said i prob shud not give blood.

It " might " cause a seizure. Who knows, but I was bummed becuz I wanted to

give. Note that my meningiomas are nort causing any problems either.

Never had a transfusion, but that sounds like a reasonable excuse to me.

Againb, when i read the paper they make you sign when donating blood it

mentions if you have brain tumors a seizure culd result from donating

blood. That was my only reason 4 nott giving " the gift of life "

I've been giving blood since I found out about

my NF, they just look it up real quick and then

realize its ok for me to still give. Never said

anything else and tap me for what they want :-)

donating blood or organs is okat with nf2 since this is passed bt

genetics not blood. The only thing in donating blood and these various

types of radiation is, well to my local blood bank, I can NOT have

radiation for 5 years. Or be radiation free. Any one know why or do

they have the same requirement. I like to donate blood because my blood

type is somewhat rare. I am B positive.

Hi Jimmy,

Yes, I've been told the same in relation to transfusions.
