Love, and good luck with this, n MRI I am going in for a MRI tomorrow. I haven’t had one since I started Rebif two years ago and my neuro wants to see if the lesions are progressing. I am pretty nervous. Hate the noise in the tube---the jackhammer noise drives me crazy. Any suggestions? We hit 102 today and the heat has me wiped out. Spent most of the day on the couch. I am usually really active. Most days, I do 3 miles on the treadmill. Today, I barely got up. Is anyone else struggling with the heat? Guest guest Posted July 12, 2006 Report Share Posted July 12, 2006 My MRI machine allowed for earphones and you could request whatever genre music you wanted; I always pick classic rock . And they do turn it up fairly loud, so if they offer that now, make sure you pick music you like!! They also talk to you through the headphones, and the person that done mine was really good about checking in and asking if I was okay, etc. and telling me about how much longer we had, what was next, was noises to expect (which were minimal with the rock and roll going on!) Hopefully you'll have an upgraded machine and it can be more comfortable for you this time. ~ MRI I am going in for a MRI tomorrow. Though its hard for me to sit still when music is playing. J n, I didn’t know I could ask for a break. That might make it much more bearable. I’ll let you know how it goes. Our MRI machine techs always give us ear plugs. When I had my first MRI I actually fell asleep. I had been working the night shift and since it was my first ever MRI and was anxious and could not sleep. But I was so tired the last thing I heard was, "this section will only take 15 minutes." 45 minutes later, they woke me up. Well yesterday it was 110, the day before 112. Today it was supposed to get up to 113 but I don't think it made it. I stay inside for the most part but I still get heat sick. I asked the tech how it worked, and he gave me some technical explaination, and when he showed me on the computer screen some of the pictures of my brain, you couldn't even see the headphones....pretty neat, of course the hospital that I go to is pretty high tech....It's at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, so I'm sure they have high tech stuff that a lot of smaller hospitals don't. I had no idea what stations were available as it had been too long since I lived down there. The Tech and I shared exactly the same birthday and he said he knew what to play. He was right! LOL It also really helped me each time he'd say "this next one will be ____ minutes" and he'd let me know when it was just about done, as well. I counted my way through each one. Guest guest Posted April 28, 2007 Report Share Posted April 28, 2007 I think I mentioned that the first request my pain specialist made for an MRI was denied. Last week I had appointment with my rheumatologist and was having severe pain that day. He told me XRays confirmed arthritis in spine and hips. he wished there was more he could do but pain killers were my only option. I was leaving, writing my co-pay check out, and started crying. To make a long story short, the nurse behind the counter wouldn't let me leave, got the doctor involved again and promised me she'd get an MRI approved. Not sure how she did it, but by 10:00 a.m. the next day she had called and told me I was approved. I have to do something special for this woman, that's for sure !!! So I have it done on May 2 at 8:00 p.m. After that, they told me they'd send me to a new (better) pain specialist and recommend prednisone shots in the spine, to start.
