Guest guest
Thank you so much for the information! I wondered why when I got the copy of the appeal letter my attny. sent in, is said this letter is receipt that the (forgot word, but it meant me) was advised to apply for medicaid. I thought, HA! Yeah, right. My husband has insurance, they're not gonna approve me for medicaid, but perhaps I could get some assistance with my Avonex, I'm still looking into that. Didn't have to take my shot tonight, which is usually my injection night, because I ran out and couldn't afford the co-pay of $200 until this Thursday. Oh, well. I should get a lot accomplished this week, hopefully! ~ Pebbles I forgot to mention that most states have what they call a statedisabiltiy program. This money comes out of the SSI pot and does nothave to be paid back should you get approved later. This program kicksin if a person has been denied and have no income during the disabilityprocess after all other income has been exhausted. They provide Medicaid which isn't that bad, dental, vision, an allotmentof foodstamps (usually the max and if there are children even more), anda bi-weekly monetary amount. Usually your Dr. would fill out hisportion and you would fill out your application, you would beinterviewed within a week or so and then they would have to render adecision within 30 days. If they deny you, you file an appeal and itmust be heard by a state Judge within the next 60 days (it is usuallysooner) they usually award it on the appeal but it is easy to getinitially. It is not very much but it is something and will help a greatdeal. I just wanted to let you know about State because many do not knowthat this resource is available to the disabled seeking permanentdisabilty. Guest guest
Thank you Thank you! I did call the Avonex company directly and they are actually sending me a 2 week supply of injections at NO CHARGE! I just explained to them the situation with my payday being messed up due to the length of time it took my medical records to be reviewed by my short term disability insurance company, thus resulting in me not getting paid the last 2 pay periods. They were wonderful about it and told me if I was still having trouble in a couple of weeks, to call them back and they would see what assistance programs I may be eligible for and assist me with that. I'm always so surprised when I talk to these people at Avonex how helpful they are. I don't know what other medical companies members in this group have with their injections, but the Avonex team is really great in my opinion.
