I imagine it will come in handy at my sons baseball district playoffs. I think my main problem is I'm very stubborn and it ticks me off to realize that there are going to be limitatons to my activities. Not that I have to stop all together, just be more prepared. Guest guest
Back in April 2003 my wife and I decided to take a spring vacation in Florida since it was my boys Spring break, this was also my first vacation since getting my MS in Aug 99. We ended up visiting my parents while we were there. We went to Disney World on Wednesday and we had a great time. I found out that day how much the heat could bother me, they have a daily parade and we watched the whole thing. We were in the sun the whole time. That was a big mistake on my part. My legs were first bothered and that day was so hard on me I ended up having to use my wheelchair full time for about 6 weeks. At that time I was worried I was going to be in my wheelchair forever. I was so happy it was temporary. I have used a walker full time ever since hit with my MS and any more I fell like I am back to my normal self when I can just use my walker again. I added some photo's of that trip in the group photo section http://health.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/MSersLife/photos/browse/e9b8 I also often had to pass on watching my sons baseball game sometimes because of it being too warm. So he's going to call my neurologist tomorrow and send me to a neuroopthamologist. Guest guest
It has been my own experience with loss of balance and MS that when one falls, unless a friend or relative is nearby to explain the situtation, the assumption, alas, is made that one is either drunk or stoned. Always gets to me as I take Phenobarbital for epilepsy anyway and, given that I would never CHOOSE to drink or get HIGH, I could not anyway; would be my death! So embarrassing, too! Love to all who have had this unfortunate experience! n RE: Re: Tough Day Today I fell out of the bleachers at the hockey game this year and they all thought I had too many beers. Guest guest
Heat messes with my eye's also. When I was new to my MS I was happy because since I use a walker all the time I was still able to do some mowing using our riding lawn mower. After I mowed on a warm day my vision was causing me all kinds of trouble. I let my 16 year old mow most of the time now. I usually still mow when it isn't too warm. Last summer I had double vision from mid July and that was my fault because I stayed outside too long. My neurologist gave me 2 different steroid treatments. I didn't get rid of my double vision until about Feb 2006. I was so happy it cleared. This summer I have been limiting how long I stay out. I have a feeling your eye trouble is what happened to me. You will want to let your neurologist know the heat has messed with your MS and you have vision trouble. He will probably give you steroids also. Good luck Bill Trimm wrote: > great pictures. Guest guest
That was a nasty fall. My wife and I we live very close to where my kids play so we always drove seperate to the games and I always parked where I could see from my truck. sometimes I would kick on the AC and cool the truck down. My bladder trouble always made my watching his game short also and I rarely watch a whole game. I always feel bad when I can't watch the whole thing. My kids understand though. Guest guest
Hi n my wifes sister also had Epilepsy. She had so many seizures several years ago she had a device like a pacemaker that was implanted in her to help warn her when a seizure was going to happen. She has a magnet she keeps on herself and when the device is activated by an attack she just swipes the implanted device to stop the attack. She hasn't had a seizure for many years now. It made a big change in her life. Guest guest
Bill, I have only what are called "absence" seizures, but can cause a fall; IF I am not denied my medication on time, I have only an aura to warn me. This is thought to be a result of premature birth and hycrocephalus of pre maturity, though the same neurologist treats it who treats my MS. Love to your sister-in-law, , from me, and to you and to your wife, of course, n * Re: Re: Tough Day Today> Back in April 2003 my wife and I decided to take a spring> vacation in Florida since it was my boys Spring break, this> was also my first vacation since getting my MS in Aug 99. Guest guest
How desperate are you to get control of the problem? There are options, you know. Talk to a urologist, if you're at your wits end. [Yes--this is the voice of experience! But now I'M in control of my bladder again (deciding where and when to go) and I LOVE IT! I no longer allow my bladder to keep me home bound, missing the things I used to do, meeting friends for coffee, or spending the day at the mall before Xmas, etc. There are significant drawbacks though... By all means reach me privately on radbower@... if you want my story on this...] Hugs, Rae From: MSersLife [mailto:MSersLife ] On Behalf Of batman robinSent: Thursday, June 29, 2006 3:13 PMTo: MSersLife Subject: Re: Re: Tough Day Today Hey Bill My main symptom with my MS is bladder troubles BarbMS-Bill wrote: ThanksI have bladder trouble with my MS so it is rare when we go places.
