Guest guest
Hi Jenifer, All these symptoms are symptoms of the drugs and symptoms of withdrawal. Not only are you on several drugs, but you've just gone through a quick withdrawal from another. The symptoms you are experiencing are quite normal for this situation. They do get better with time and appropriate nutrients, I promise. While there are things that can ease some of the symptoms, there is no quick fix. Your body has been damaged, and you need to give it time to heal. One of the first things you can do is start working on your diet, as described in Eating for Recovery in the Files. Because yours is a somewhat complex situation involving multiple drugs and withdrawals, I would recommend that you have a consult with , the list owner. This will enable you to get a personalized plan and nutrient protocol right from the start. Also, it would be helpful to know more about you. Please fill us in on your mental health history, including the different drugs and how they affected you, as well as what led you to take these drugs ion the first place. Also include any medical conditions you may have and any other pharmaceutical drugs or over-the-counter medications you take. We'll get this sorted out. Guest guest
I will need to work on a consult with , for sure. I appreciate all the feedback, it is much needed. I will try and fill you in as much as I can. I had a hysterectomy at age 26 due to endometriosis, I was on hormone replacement therapy for nine years, I am no longer on this. I don't take any other drugs or OTC meds other than the Effexor XR, the Depakote ER and the Cymbalta. I started taking Paxil and klonopin due to anxiety, which went into depression. I was put on remeron and ativan plus the paxil in hospitalization. I was then put on neurontin. I was then discontinued on the paxil and put on Effexor XR, then the depakote ER and the seroquel was added. I stopped taking the Neurontin and the Seroquel and Remeron on my own, I just felt I was way overmedicated. The Abilify was added to the mix and I just came off of that as I have explained, which leaves me on the three meds. I just trusted my psych doctor that she knew what I needed, and with all the symptoms, depression, anxiety, panic, sleeplessness, sleeping too much, no motivation, restlessness, tremors, nausea, short term memory loss, the list goes on. I just trusted that she knew what was best, and so I continued to take meds, until I stopped taking the neurontin and seroquel and remeron, then I had a relapse of depression and had an " I told you so response " from the psychiatrist. Now I have this diagnosis of bipolar II, GAD, borderline personality disorder??? Where do these things come from I don't know. I have argued this out with the doctor but it only seems to impress her further that I am what she says I am. sigh... I just want to feel normal again! Thanks again, Jenifer > Also, it would be helpful to know more about you. Guest guest
Jenifer - I too am new to this group. I can tell you that the amount of information I have received in just a month has already greatly affected how I view the whole withdrawal process. I am sorry that you hare going through this. For me, it has helped knowing that I am not alone. Guest guest
I hope you've realized now that your psychiatrist shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a prescription pad. You've described a list of symptoms that are ALL caused by the drugs or by withdrawal from the drugs. All of your diagnoses come from these symptoms--which means that they're all hogwash. I don't know where the original anxiety came from, though I definitely suspect a nutrient deficiency, especially Omega-3 fatty acids. Whatever the cause, the way it was treated caused this massive snowballing of symptoms, medications, and diagnoses. needs to take it from here with specific recommendations. She is truly an expert in this area, as you may ahve already begun to see! As I said, she will probably need to do a consult with you to address the situation adequately. There are limits to what can safely be done in an email format, simply because of the inefficiency of sending message back and forth, back and forth. In the meantime, start working on your diet. Take a look at Eating for Recovery (in the Files, also sent when you joined), and start bringin your diet into compliance with those guidelines. This will help set the stage for healing your body. Healing is all about nutrients and balancing blood sugar (which the drugs tend to send all out of whack). Let us know if you have any questions. I assure you, you can and will feel better! Guest guest
Thanks Kim, I am going to work on a five day diet diary and have a consult with . Guest guest
Dear , You said: <<Hi all, just wanted to run this by you and see what you think. I am pretty sure short-term memory loss is from the drugs I take, yes? But this seems strange to me. Along with this restless pacing, and the feeling that I don't know what to do with myself, is low to no motivation to do anything I know should be done, i.e. household chores etc. While I find myself needing to be occupied, I cannot bring myself to do the things I need to do. They just seem too overwhelming. What can I take for this restlessness, and for my sleep disturbances. I am so ready to get past all of this! Thanks again, and I'm sorry if I am whining! >> ** Yes, your lack of st memory is due to the drugs. The restless pacing is in part because you came off Abilify too quickly. The lack of motivation is because you are being poisoned and have been since you began this journey. These things take a toll on a person. If I were you I would be looking for an attorney. The prescription of these drugs has been nothing short of criminal. What precipitated the symptoms that led you to see a doctor and get these drugs? What was going on in your life at that time? How are you coming on the food diary? Regards,
Guest guest
, you said: <<What precipitated the symptoms that led you to see a doctor and get these drugs? What was going on in your life at that time?>> I was hospitalized for a major depression, and was suicidal. I spent 11 days there in the psychiatric unit, Before the depression, I was hit with incredible anxiety, which I lived with for a month before seeing a regular physician, who prescribed me paxil and klonopin. Over the course of the last three years I have been on 8 different meds, most of which I have taken myself off of. I am almost done with my food diary and will be sending in all the info to you tonight. Thanks a bunch, JeniferHow are you coming on the food diary?
