Guest guest
Kim! Wow, congratulations. I just read the article. I love the way you paint light and shadow. Guest guest
Kim, So cool! I couldn't be more happy for you. I'd really like to check the links listed below in order to purchase some of your work in some fashion. You're work is totally amazing and so beautiful. You are very talented. I love the richness of your use of colors, lights, and shadows. Your are an inspiration to me not to give up on my known and even the possibility of hidden talents inside me. It's encouraging to know that one can truely survive coming off psych drugs and still be able to function and do amazing things with their lives - like what you are experiencing. I started picking my flute back up 1 month ago and will starting playing on my church music team in July. The desire and motivation has finally returned after laying it down for approx. 8 months. One of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but the withdrawals were really wiping me out at the time. I do realize now that this was because I was moving too quicky with my tapers with the Geodon. Now that I've slowed down a great deal, life is looking up again and I'm gradually becoming more involved with life around me again. Anyway, this post is really about you and I am truely amazed over the beautiful work that I see coming from your paintings and art work. Congratualtions, It couldn't have happened to a more special, compassionate, and giving person such as yourself. I believe your beauty is coming through and being expressed in your artwork. Hugs, V. emmaryllis wrote: Kim! Wow, congratulations. I just read the article. Guest guest
" I started picking my flute back up 1 month ago and will starting playing on my church music team in July. " , this is wonderful, I am so pleased for you. Do put the Mozart Flute concerto's on your list of things to play, especially the slow movements, I find them so healing. Guest guest
, Thanks for the vote of encouragement. I love Mozart too! I'm touched that you picked up on what I said in one of my posts. You are so loving and kind, . Hugs back to you. I find that when I'm feeling any negative moods like fatigue, irritable, moody, restless, even brain fog and I make myself pick up the flute to play, that after I've played 2 or 3 songs that I feel better and my mood has picked up. It's almost like playing my flute medicates my emotions and moods. The trick is to motivate myself to play it even when I don't feel like it. However, when I do, I always find myself more at peace and calm in mind and body. I also feel more alert. I also feel better about myself that I am actually working on something I enjoy and reap the benefits of practice that makes "not perfect", but better. I'm learning to take perfect out of my vocabulary, because I struggle with being obsessed with perfectionism. I love my flute. It's great, much better than drugs or caffiene. Hugs, V. Guest guest
Kim, Thanks for the encouragement! Everyone in this group amazes me with all their sensitivity, love, and care for one another. It really is therapeutic for me when I practice and helps improve my mood. When I'm upset and get myself to pick up the flute and play it, I feel so much better mentally and emotionally. There must be some kind of positive/safe mind altering connection to music and our emotions. Much better than any psychiatric drug that's for sure! I did record a CD at a professional recording studio of my flute playing back a few years ago and sent them to friends and family in memory of the death of my mom. I got many responses back saying how much the music touched and soothed them. They told me that when they were feeling bad and would play my CD the music would perk them up and they would start feeling better. You could almost say that at one time in my life my flute playing was my world. I "ate, drank, and breathed" to practice, teach, and play my flute. I was also very active in playing for a variety of occassions from weddings, receptions, afternoon teas, evening events, banquets, parties, once even for a ballroom dancing event, also once for an open ceremony to cut the ribbon, as well as being a part of flute choirs, orchestras and concerts. When I started my psych. drug journey eventually my flute playing got robbed from me and I couldn't play very well. As a side note, as all of us here know, just how damaging these psych. drugs can be, when I was placed on the Effexor I was unable to use the muscles of my mouth and face to form the necessary embouchure required to play the flute properly. I was devastated when my music director pulled me aside and told me that my playing was now becoming more of a liability to the music team. That crushed me and I eventually gave up playing the flute for awhile until I came off the Effexor. Now, however, I am determined this will not be the case for me currently or in the future. I hope at some point in the future to be able to teach flute lessons again. I loved doing this so much. Kim, thanks for caring. However,I am so very excited for you!
