Hi All, I was on 75 mg effexor xr for 3 years. I cut back half a few

weeks, then cold turkey. I am now 3 months off this med and am still

not feeling like I thought I should by now. My stomach is my biggest

complaint. I am nausaus sp?? alot of the time, and this causes me not

to eat well. My doc gave me phernagen for this, but I have ran out and

didnt want to call for more. Is this a normal part of getting off

effexor?? What can I do other than taking a med like phenergan to

make the nausua go away?? I also cry easy, which is a total 180 from

me. Things seem to hurt my feelings that I couldnt care less about

while on the med, or before the med also. Other than that I feel

alright. Thanks for any insight!!

Hi Tonie,

Welcome to the group!

It sounds like you've had a tough time of it since the effexor

withdrawal. We recommend a very slow taper in this group instead of

a cold turkey for the reasons you describe -- often when someone

withdraws abruptly they are left with lingering symptoms.

There are things you can do to feel better. I would highly

recommend the diet suggested here. It improved things for me so

much. You can find detailed information in the files section.

There is also a general protocol there of suggested supplements.

People begin to feel much better following these protocols.

I would also recommend a consult with , the list owner. We

believe here that each individual is unique in their reactions to

these medications and that each person has special needs in coping

with the effects. is amazing! She has helped so many of

us recover from a wide variety of drugs. Many of us feel better

than we have in our lives.

Again, welcome.

Hugs,

** Actually, your body is doing exactly what is should given how

quickly you went off the Effexor. Going off any drug in a few weeks

is too stressful on the brain and body and causes long, drawn-out

syndromes like the one you are in.

You are crying all the time because you are over-stimulated. as

long as you are overstimulated you can't recover. Please read the

article in our files on this.
