Guest guest
Hi Crissa, I am sorry you are having so much pain and ended up having to go to the ER for that and the loss of your leg and bladder. I hope the doctors can find out what is going on with you! Love, Becky/SD >Crissa wrote: I spent Tuesday night in the ER with severe pain and lost leg and bladder control. Crissa - I'm not a doctor, but from my experience this sounds like an emergency situation! If you're suffering sudden paralysis and loss of bladder control, you could be suffering cauda equina syndrome, which requires IMMEDIATE emergency surgery to correct. They shouldn't be messing around waiting on this! You need to bang some heads and insist on appropriate treatment at that hospital, or go to another hospital if you have to. They should have immediately called in a neurosurgical consult to look at you - ER docs don't have the expertise to diagnosis problems at that level. What is your own doctor doing for you at this time? They should be advocating for you at the hospital to get emergency care. Don't mess around with this. It's up to you to insist that they pay attention. Insist on seeing a neurosurgeon and neurologist both, and insist that they admit you for that if necessary. And as I said, go to another ER if they aren't doing their job. Whereever you do go, make sure that you don't go in asking for more pain meds even if the pain has increased - that will just raise red flags for them and make them dismiss you as a drug seeker - but do insist on a proper diagnosis for the sudden and frightening changes in your condition. You deserve appropriate attention and care, and it doesn't sound like you're getting it right now. Cheryl in AZ Moderator
