My pain doc even suggested putting my " backups " in the fridge or freezer to help keep them longer. I haven't done this myself, because I keep my pain meds in a locked safe. And I think I'd check with a pharmacist first to make sure it wouldn't damage the particular medicine - I do think it would depend on what kind/type of drug you were using. (BTW, my pain doc is completely aware that I've " hoarded " a stash. He even **unofficially** (as in he'd never admit it in a court of law!) suggested that it was a very good idea, given the state of our nation. If there was an emergency due to natural disasters like Katrina or another 911, he says, we might have a lot of trouble getting meds from a pharmacy in time if we didn't have some stashed away.) I've done it the same way you did, Jim. I skipped doses where I could stand to do it so that I could save up some.
