I can't remember the name of the gentleman on this list who back-channeled me

about using capsaicin on my feet to help ease the pain of my neuromas, but I've

been trying it these past few days. I've also been applying it to my knee, which

has suddenly become painful for the usual unknown reason.

Interestingly, I can feel the warmth of the cream on my knee, but I feel

nothing, absolutely NOTHING, when I apply it to my feet. No burning, not even

the tiniest bit of warmth. Remember I was talking about suing the ortho who did

my last operation for malpractice? Here's another reason why: My foot is now

DEAD.

Anyway, it's too soon to know if the capsaicin cream is going to help. Just

wanted first off to thank my mystery correspondent again, and to ask if it's at

all common not to feel a thing from the cream.

Also, I'm using Lidoderm patches. (I use the patches during the day, the

capsaicin at night.) I remember a discussion a while back about how to keep the

patches from falling off. I've come up with a solution that I don't recall being

mentioned. I wrap the area that the patch is on with self-stick tape.

Lots of different manufacturers for this stuff. J & J calls it Sports Tape, 3M

calls it Coban. Even K-Mart has its own brand, Tender Tape (although this

doesn't work as well as the others, surprise surprise).

The tape looks like an Ace bandage, and it comes in different widths.

What I like about it is that you can put it on loosely around joints, or fairly

tightly, like an Ace bandage, in other areas like the feet. It keeps the

Lidoderm patches on, and it keeps them clean (which is especially important for

me, as I use them on my feet and I have two dogs and two cats, so there's pet

fur all over my floor!).

The downside is that this stuff is expensive, especially if you're wrapping

multiple areas, as I am. I've stopped buying it in the store and now order it

online from an e-Bay seller. I just bought 20 rolls online for the same price as

10 rolls in the store. Not bad, right?
