Guest guest
I have advanced thyroid cancer. In May/05 I underwent a 9 hr. operation on my neck to remove the cancer. I was left with severe pain in the front of my neck and it never went away. I haven't found one person in any of the thyroid cancer groups with severe neck pain almost two years after their surgery. I have had physio and acupuncture, x-ray, CT Scan, Ultrasound, MRI. The therapy did not help and every test shows " a lot of damage " to my neck but does not pinpoint anything " in particular " that might be causing this pain. To make matters worse, I also suffer from chronic low back pain following spine surgery four years ago. I have tried so many painkillers including Fentanyl and Morphine but only Percocet dulls the pain down a little for a short time. I am in a deep depression and have lost hope for any " normal " life. I live alone and don't leave my house anymore because of this pain. No-one visits me or talks to me anymore. I am on disability and there is no " free " help of any kind in my community. I am so tired of hearing people who don't have pain say that my depression or my anxiety or my loneliness may be the cause of this pain. The next statement I am waiting to hear is that it is " all in my mind " at which point I may punch someone. Are there other people in this group that have severe pain so long after surgery? Thanks for listening and I appreciate your support.
