Guest guest
Hi everyone... I've got a bone spur in my neck that is pressing on a nerve, and also arthritis in the same area. The thoughts are that it is due to a neck injury from a school bus accident way back in high school (a LONG time ago :-)). The nerve compression also sometimes results in numbness and tingling down my left arm. I've got good days and really bad days. On the bad days I just want to lay in bed as it is the only way to take the pressure off my neck. Unfortunately that doesn't happen much since I have three kids and a hubby that might as well be a fourth kid. Consequently I often just suffer in silence, as I am sure many of you do. I am under the care of a pain management doctor and I just completed another round of physical therapy, which doesn't do a thing to help the ongoing pain. He's got me on Celebrex and Skelaxin when I need it. Have to watch the NSAIDs though because I've developed some stomach/acid reflux problems from taking so many over the past few years. So most times I don't take any meds and just deal with it, knowing that eventually I will be able to lay down at night to get some relief:-) I'm a very active person, but also spend a lot of time in front of computers for work, which only puts more tension on my neck. By the end of the work day I am usually ready to go curl up somewhere and die, but instead I get to run my kids all over the place for their various activities. I'm not a complainer, and actually writing all of this is very hard for me to do as it feels like I am complaining. Sometimes it just gets hard to deal with day after day, with no one at home really knowing what I am going through. Hubby is great and supportive, but can't understand simply because he has never gone through such an ordeal. I'm sure many of you can relate to that. Guest guest
Beth, Welcome darling woman you are in a good place here. It sounds like you arr recovering some memories and Therapy is a good place for you to be. Your mind protects you from some things until your psyche is mature enough to start processing it. A qualified therapist can help you deal with these things as they bubble up to your conscienceness. Your post was DEFINATELY not overly long. We KO's have been unheard in our pain for so long that we tend to be a bit long winded when we finally find a place to be heard and believed. Keep at it my dear. It is worth the journey.
