Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am a 63 year old female you can call Grammy or . I was invited here by from another site and I am thankful she found me. I am trying to withdraw from Prozac after being on it for 12 years. My friends and family think I am a " health nut " because of the heavy emphasis I place on healthy eating. I am not sure that I can get off Prozac without the depression returning but I sure want to try. Something runs in my family - my mother tried a few times to kill herself, my sister did kill herself, my other sister had a " nervous breakdown " and was hospitalized, my daughter has been diagnosed as bipolar which she does not believe, and her daughter has been diagnosed I believe as " borderline " and she has been prescribed Prozac and I believe she is taking them now. We are not in touch with each other, mostly due to the raging emotions we all share causing discord. I have tried suicide twice in my life, once when I was 12 years old. As far as I knew, nothing happened but years later I lost my kidney, I believe due to the overdose of the pills I took. I am on 20 mg of Prozac. Before I knew better, I cut down by taking one capsule every other day. stopped me from doing further damage, and I have gone back to my regular dose until I feel stable. I feel stable now but I want to be real sure. I don't understand exactly how this works because of the long half-life Prozac has. I am working on getting my doctor to prescribe 60 10 mg tablets a month instead of 30 20 mg capsules. Of course she thinks I am nutz (why else would I be on Prozac ha ha) and the pharmacist does too, but thats o.k. I don't need their approval, but I do need their help in getting the meds until I am free of them. My medical problems are COPD, and rather high blood pressure. I am having my kidney function checked to rule out the kidney as the reason for the high pb. The supplements I take are: Pre-acidified Liquid Calcium Magnesium: calcium from elemental citrate 600 mg, magnisium citrate elemental 300 mg and vitamin D 400 IU. I take a dose twice a day. The others I take are alpha lipoic acid 100 mg, vitamin E as D-Alpha tocopheryl 400 IU, astaxanthin 4 mg, chromium picolinate+silenium 100 mg ea, vitamin C time release 1000 mg (I have increased it to 3k lately in case I have weak adrenals) CoQ10 120 mg, B-50 complex. DHEA 50 mg, vit K 100 mcg, GTF chromium 200 mcg, silica 500 mg, spirolina 500 mg, boron 3 mg, and one each homemade capsules containing turmeric, garlic (granuals), cayenne and celery seed, garlic, cayenne - these I was hoping would help my blood pressure. I stopped taking potassium due to fears it might be damaging my kidney. I recently started taking OmegaBrite a 7:1 fish oil with the high epa to dha ratio recommended by Dr. Stoll for depression. (do search if interested in knowing more) and taurine 500 mg (blood pressure). I am temporarily out of gingko biloba and will be ordering hawthorne and grape seed extract for additional blood pressure help. , I posted my four day meal diary on the other site where you found me. If you prefer I will post it here. Thanks for your site. I appreciate what you are doing for so many people and look forward to your help for me.
