Guest guest
As you may recall, I got my CPAP (actually a BiPAP) machine two weeks ago. After the fiasco of the first mask, I now have a new one that is much more comfortable--it's just a tiny plastic strip with nostril inserts. My question is this: My husband just told me that with the enhanced sound of my breathing with the CPAP machine, he can actually tell when I stop breathing. He says that I'll inhale, and then take quite a long time to exhale and start breathing again. Is this normal with a CPAP? I thought the whole idea of the machine is to prevent me from not breathing regularly during sleep, and that if I did stop breathing, to immediately force air into my airway. Is there something wrong with my machine or mask, or is this the way the machine actually works? Thanks. a
Guest guest
Hi a, I've awakened to inhale while using my CPAP a few times, my doctor wants to send me back for another sleep study. For me, possibly central sleep apnea combined with the obstructive apnea. Bring it up with your doctor ASAP. Good luck. Best wishes, Jackie in MI I thought the whole idea of the machine is to prevent me from not breathing regularly during sleep, and that if I did stop breathing, to immediately force air into my airway. Guest guest
Hello, My husband uses one and never stops and starts breathing again like he used to. He uses the big mask so no air will leak out. It took him awhile to get used to it but now won't sleep without the thing. Hope it works out for you.
