Guest guest
So, Connie, I may just get a girl yet! LOL. After 4 boys, I would just expect only boys. Trista RE: What is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you wish would go away? Val and Trista, I have twins too. Mine are 22. Identical boys. Lots of energy when they were young. Now they share an apartment, work and go to school. Great guys. I have another son, younger by 2 years and a 15year old daughter. I always tell her she is my reward from God…. Guest guest
Jackie- I also know what you mean. I spent just 45 minutes with 3 of my kids last week. And they are grown! (Except the 14 year old.) I was so tired and stressed, that up until the next day, I had a headache and fatigue that was literally draining. Although, my kids are understanding, to a point. They are often disappointed when I refuse to accompany them to places. I try to tell them that it's not personal, I just don't have the stamina anymore. Blessings... -- RE: What is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you wish would go away? I'm sending my love and understanding to you, my dear friend. I don't get out very often either. I usually go shopping to Wal Mart once a month. I get to go to the thrift store every few weeks with my daughter-in-law and I look forward to it so much. I do understand. As many of here do. Sharon Jackie Hanan wrote: I think the hardest thing for me is the fatigue and weakness. I use to be very energetic, and strong. I was always on the go, and I loved be out and around daily. Now I am lucky if I can leave my house once a month. I want so much to spend time with my grandchildren, and take them places, and just have them around more. As it is the fatigue makes it so I don’t have a lot of stamina, so when those two little energy balls come to visit it doesn’t take long before my energy is totally drained. I can put up with the pain, even the disability of not being able to walk very well, but when you have hardly any energy just the act of visiting with others is trying. Guest guest
I'm finding it so amazing at how much we all have in common here! Our twins are even close in age. One of my twins is starting to have some back trouble and some vision problems these days. I've been after her to get herself checked. She seems to think the back problems are coming from having her children. I have arthritis in my back. The way she's been describing the pain, sounds a lot like arthritis to me. Have a blessed day... -- Re: What is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you wish would go away? Val, My oldest was a twin, but we lost his brother. I know I never could have handled 2 like him. He has ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome. My 9 yr old has Autism. He's my little savant, like Akiba's son. He's a gifted artist. It's good you have your daughter near you. Are they girl/girl or girl/boy twins? My oldest will probably never leave me. LOL. He's like my mother hen, always worried about taking care of me and his little brothers. If any of them sticks close by, it will be him. He's a challenge, but still such a blessing. Take care, Trista Re: What is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you wish would go away? My worst sx, is fatigue. Some days are really bad. And heat wipes me out. Both these things are bad, especially since I have 12 yr. old, 9 yr. old, 2 yr. old and 8 month old boys. I homeschool the oldest 2, so I have to fit more school in on my "good days". Summers are rough, because they love to swim at Gpa's house, but I feel ill and wiped out, before we even get there. (30 min. drive) Last summer, I swam with them once and couldn't get out of the pool. Scared me to death. Then, I avoided swimming again, because I wanted to pretend it would be an isolated event. Guest guest
Hey n,……it took me a long time to decide not to drive anymore. I even went so far as to brake with my left foot, and I rested my right one up against the side, and the heaviness kept the accelerator down hard enough to power the car. Eventually I decided it was too dangerous to drive like that, so I reluctantly gave up the keys! L Ya know life changes at some point for every one, it just changes a little sooner for those with progressive illnesses. This was what the Dr’s meant when they told me to go home and learn to live with it. A little cold, but I understand now. Guest guest
Hi Bill,……I envy your wifes work space. What a beautiful area, and how neat! Everything is right there at her arms length to do her scrapbooking with. I am still getting everything together to start mine. Both my daughter and I are going to put together several for our family. I’ll be looking forward to seeing the finished cabinet! Hi Jackie I was wanting to post a photo of the finished cabinet the other night but I didn't have the photo of the finished cabinet yet and I would have woken up everyone to take the picture at that time. My wife Judy is big into working on Scrapbooks and I took a photo also of her area. I don't understand why she has so much fun working on her books I don't have the patients like she does. She is good at doing them. She will get with her friends and they have a good time doing the books together. Guest guest
Hi Val,……my kids [30, 32] have lived with my illnesses since they were 6 and 8. During the early years I was able to keep up fairly well, but there were many crash and burn days. They got use to mom not feeling well. As time went on and things progressed, I could tell they were disappointed too when I couldn’t go to their programs. I missed both their college graduations. Luckily Steve took video’s of them, but I know they would have liked me to have been there. [sigh] One of the biggest hurdles we are facing now, is reversing roles. I need them to take up the slack, and do the family dinners. They still are holding on to mom or dad doing the cooking, cleaning, and entertaining. Steve was doing all of it when I couldn’t anymore, but he too is ill now, and we keep telling everyone, that we just can’t. They still want to hold on to tradition, or they are just lazy……..lol, haven’t decided yet! Guest guest
Jackie, I think that no matter how much time goes by or how bad things seem to be from our stand point, no one really knows what we go through. Not even our kids. I wonder sometimes if maybe the people around us might be going through a little denial. I think that one of my twins is going through that herself. She just doesn't see me as weak. Maybe that's my own fault. I was in denial for so long myself. I always tried to give the illusion that everything was fine. I'm learning now to speak up. Even if it hurts her feelings. Although, I do try to do it with love. But, I do agree with one thing. I can see the laziness in her. But, if she wants the family get together's, that tend to wipe me out for weeks, then she has to suck it up and have it at her home. God bless... -- RE: What is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you wish would go away? I'm sending my love and understanding to you, my dear friend. I don't get out very often either.
