Guest guest
I think the hardest thing for me is the fatigue and weakness. I use to be very energetic, and strong. I was always on the go, and I loved be out and around daily. Now I am lucky if I can leave my house once a month. I want so much to spend time with my grandchildren, and take them places, and just have them around more. As it is the fatigue makes it so I don’t have a lot of stamina, so when those two little energy balls come to visit it doesn’t take long before my energy is totally drained. I can put up with the pain, even the disability of not being able to walk very well, but when you have hardly any energy just the act of visiting with others is trying. Guest guest
Jackie, dear Jackie, this is so true, and so very sad--and is happening to me as I age, now nearly 69. I have grandchildren and one great grandchild; this is very hard to bear, even though I do get out a bit more than you describe yourself as doing, and can still drive. Love to you, Jackie, and to all on our list experiencing increasing fatigue, n RE: What is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you wish would go away? Guest guest
Bill, Mine biggest trouble is getting sick in the heat. It’s hard when you live in Texas and can’t go outside during the most of the day. I tried to plant some flowers yesterday and felt very ill. Then had to come in and take a nap. We did hit 95 yesterday but I did not go out mid-day. My daughter plays travel fastpitch softball and it is hard to sit in the heat for her tournaments. I used to love the hot weather—now it zaps me. Guest guest
I am with you, Connie. I live in Central Texas and I spent most of the day yesterday in bed! I felt so exhausted all day. I just couldn't do anything! I was drained! I got up at 5am, went to Wal Mart, came home and cooked and by 10am was don't for the day! That and these stupid bouts of electric shocks shooting everywhere!!! UUUGGGHHHH!!!!! Tammyconnie buran wrote: Bill, Mine biggest trouble is getting sick in the heat. Guest guest
Hi Bill, My biggest problem are spasms in my lower back and legs. These have kept me in a wheelchair for the last 4 or 5 years. I've been on LDN for the last three years. Since that time, no further progression and no other problems. I don't take any other drugs. Guest guest
My worst sx, is fatigue. Some days are really bad. And heat wipes me out. Both these things are bad, especially since I have 12 yr. old, 9 yr. old, 2 yr. old and 8 month old boys. I homeschool the oldest 2, so I have to fit more school in on my " good days " . Summers are rough, because they love to swim at Gpa's house, but I feel ill and wiped out, before we even get there. (30 min. drive) Last summer, I swam with them once and couldn't get out of the pool. Scared me to death. Then, I avoided swimming again, because I wanted to pretend it would be an isolated event. Guest guest
My sx are like yours. The fatigue can be unbearable at times. I do have good days sometimes. In a month, I have maybe 3 or 4 good days. On those days, I take full advantage of the situation. Those are the days that I spend cleaning my house spic n span. Do extra cooking and freezing dinners that can be heated up, etc. I don't know how I did it years ago when my children were young. Must have had an angel helping me. -- Re: What is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you wish would go away? My worst sx, is fatigue. Some days are really bad. And heat wipes me out. Guest guest
I am taking DL-Phenalanine for the fatigue, it is helping immensely! And for the heat, last summer I got some cooling scarves off eBay, they're awesome. I dried them out at the end of the summer and have them ready to go for this summer! Guest guest
Hi Bill, One of my biggest troubles I wish would go away is my numbness/decensitization from waist down. Nothing can help with this problem of not much feeling in a certain area if you all now what I mean. The bladder/bowl problems.....I could just say I've been in some very humilitating situations with NO control and NO warning. These are the 2 worst symptoms that bother me the most. Guest guest
Trista, I have 4 children. Twins, (27), one (24), and the youngest is 14. The three oldest are living on their own with their own little ones now. My youngest is living with his dad. My kids were pretty good during the bad times. The twins were real hyper when little, though. Now that they are grown, one of the twins has stayed pretty close to me. She has really been a big help when I've needed her. Guest guest
Val, My oldest was a twin, but we lost his brother. I know I never could have handled 2 like him. He has ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome. My 9 yr old has Autism. He's my little savant, like Akiba's son. He's a gifted artist. It's good you have your daughter near you. Are they girl/girl or girl/boy twins? My oldest will probably never leave me. LOL. He's like my mother hen, always worried about taking care of me and his little brothers. If any of them sticks close by, it will be him. He's a challenge, but still such a blessing. Take care, Trista Re: What is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you wish would go away? Guest guest
Darlene- Boy howdy! Do I know what you mean! The worse I've ever been was when I had a relapse and was completely numb (No Joke) from my shoulders down to my feet. The weirdest sensation I ever had. It felt as though I was wrapped in saran wrap. I could fell pressure when touched, but I couldn't identify what or who was touching me. And my coordination was almost laughable. (Although, It wasn't funny at the time.) I remember one time, I was wiping the kitchen cabinet with a dishrag. I looked away from what I was doing. When I looked back...the dishrag was no longer in my hand. I had been washing the cabinet with my bare hand. I used to smoke back then too. I was alwayss dropping lit cigarettes and not knowing it. Good thing I was an outdoor smoker, or my house probably would have gone up in flames! -- What is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you wish would go away? When I was healthy this would have been a snap to do. We took several days to finish it, my wife and my 8 year gave it a nice paint job. I will try an post the cabinet done soon.I have already set out on a new project for my son to be busy with , we are putting some fencing up in our back yard to help when we get a new dog. Guest guest
I applied three times last year and never heard a word back, that's why I went out on my own and got the scarves on eBay. The lasy I got them from makes her own and uses some really great material patterns!! I got wolfies, tiger ones, leopard...love 'em and they're a real fashion statement! Guest guest
Trista, My twins are girl/girl. One lives in Idaho. (Wish I could be there.) It's the place where I was born. I miss it terribly. The other twin lives in the next town from me. My youngest daughter, (24) was born with a diaphramatic hernia. Wasn't diagnosed until she was 4hrs old. She had to be given oxygen until she was care flighted to the nearest neo-natal hospital. We nearly lost her. Thank God she survived, but because of the loss of oxygen to her brain, she is a little slower than most women her age. She's doing ok now. She's married and has two little ones of her own. I am so glad I found this group of people. We seem to have so much in common. Thanks for your correspondence... -- Re: What is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you wish would go away? My worst sx, is fatigue. Some days are really bad. And heat wipes me out. Both these things are bad, especially since I have 12 yr. old, 9 yr. old, 2 yr. old and 8 month old boys. I homeschool the oldest 2, so I have to fit more school in on my "good days". Guest guest
Kewl! Akiba, If I don't hear back about my application, I may just go ebay myself and get them there. Do you suppose they make socks to go over feet too? It's so strange. When my feet are hot, I'm hot all over. I can't even sleep with my feet under the covers. Hope you have a great evening. We were under a sever thunderstorm warning for a while here today. How was it where you're at? Blessings... --* What is your biggest trouble you have with your > MS you wish would go away? > > I was wondering what is your biggest trouble you have with your MS you > wish would go away? > I haven't had any balance since my MS hit me and I use a walker all > the time. Guest guest
If I can find her information I'll send it, she might make custom items. Or if you're handy you can make them yourself, the stuff they use one can but in garden centers, it is these bead thingys that swell when wet. Weather here? It is sunny, birds chirping, and in the high 50's~low 60's projected for the whole week with sporadic rain showers. Guest guest
Val, Wow! I bet you were scared when that happened w/ your daughter. Sounds like she is doing well now. Guest guest
I'm sending my love and understanding to you, my dear friend. I don't get out very often either. I usually go shopping to Wal Mart once a month. I get to go to the thrift store every few weeks with my daughter-in-law and I look forward to it so much. I do understand. As many of here do. Sharon Jackie Hanan wrote: I think the hardest thing for me is the fatigue and weakness. Guest guest
My biggest trouble with MS? I think it's the interupted sleep. I just wish I could sleep the night through. Between the nocturnal leg spasms/pain and needing to go to the bathroom I am awake so much. But then there is also the brain fog... maybe that's the worst. Guest guest
Val and Trista, I have twins too. Mine are 22. Identical boys. Lots of energy when they were young. Now they share an apartment, work and go to school. Great guys. I have another son, younger by 2 years and a 15year old daughter. I always tell her she is my reward from God….
