Janet, If I am not mistaken, there is a generic for Kadian because it is just morphine sulfate timed. I take Avinza and when I was in the hospital for thyroid surgery, they gave me MS Contin and it seemed to work for me but I went back on Avinza when I went home so I was not on it long term. I researched several sites and general consensus is that both work. Everyone is different though and you have to take what is good for you. Ms. Contin is cheaper and I am waiting for my insurance to make me go to MS Contin. My insurances' formulary keeps changing. Good Luck!
