They are out there. It may take some work on your part, but you can find a better one. Start asking your friends who they recommend. Ask your other doctors, every specialist you see, every technician you see for a test, who they would recommend. Call doctors' offices from the phone book or from your insurance list. Make appointments to " interview " them. Ask lots of questions about how they approach pain management. And when you find one you like, fire that bad doctor and tell him exactly why *in writing*! No doctor should put you into withdrawals on maintenance medications because they are " too busy. " Your appointments should be scheduled *in advance* with plenty of time to spare to allow for overlap with your prescription schedule. This is malpractice, and you need out of that practice as soon as possible. Start taking control of your health and start interviewing other doctors until you find one who will take care of you properly. It took me about two years of looking to find the one I have now. I had to see a lot of duds to find this gem, but it was worth the work. He literally saved my life. Hopefully it won't take you that long, but be prepared to do whatever it takes to make your life worth living again. It will make all the difference when you don't have to worry about all that garbage ever again. Get to work! Cheryl in AZ
