Guest guest
<< 've been starting to have some Tuna and was wondering if anyone new some good ways to eat it. I don't want to use the store bought Mayo. Is there a way of making healthy mayo with olive oil. Anyone have a recipe. My friend had me try some tuna sandwiches with mayo and apples and it was really good, but I want it to be healthier. I'm not much of a meat eater but find I like to have a tuna sandwich once in awhile. >> **************************** Diane, There's a couple of good kinds of mayo at the health food store. I think one brand name is Nayonaise, something like that. It's soy mayo. Then I tried another one that was soy named Hanes. Both were excellent. Guest guest
Dear Diane, I eat a lot of Tuna fish. So here are some of my ideas, hope that they are helpful to you. You can make you own sald dressing with olive oil, white wine vinegar and a little French mustard. Sorry, I can't help with a recipe for Mayo as I can't eat it any more. 1. Tuna/ homemade dressing and finely chopped cucumber. 2. Tuna/ dressing/ celery and apple. 3Tuna/dressing/grated carrots and chopped walnuts. If, you haven't time to make your own dressing you can get some very good organic dressings now. Bye for now, Jane. -----Original Message----- From: Di [mailto:usanalife@...] Sent: 15 June 2001 23:09 gallstones Subject: Tuna???? Guest guest
Here's a website that I became a member of. I guess they're still doing the same thing, but I didn't have to send them money when I signed up. You can become a member and donate money later, if you wish. http://www.vegweb.com/ Susie
Guest guest
Hi Di, Blender Mayonnaise 1 raw egg at room temperature 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon lemon juice or white distilled vinegar or a mixture of both 1 cup oil at room temperature Blend egg at high speed for 30 seconds: add mustard, salt, and lemon juice and blend for 15 seconds. With the blender still running, remove top, and in the thinnest, almost-by-droplets-stream, add 1/4 cup of the oil. Add the remaining 3/4 cup of oil in the same manner, just 1/4 cup at a time, blending after each addition. If necessary, stop the blender to stir down the mayonnaise before continuing. When thick, turn the finished mayonnnaise into a jar or plastic container and refrigerate for up to 1 week. From the " Better Than Store Bought Cookbook " which is now out of print. Does anyone know of a healthy recipe for one or where I could look for a healthy recipe? Thanks Diane It's fairly easy to make your own mayo in a blender, using any oil you want. Look in the book "Nourishing Traditions" by Sally Fallon for this and many other great recipes. She'll also tell you why not to eat soy oil (and other unsaturated vegetable oils) such as in Nayonaise. J.
