Guest guest
a, I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that I can totally relate to the frusteration you are feeling right now. Technically, I am considered a nerd and a bookworm. Now, I'm not really a nerd, I just prefer to read since then I don't have to deal with people when my nose is stuck in a book. I am also a college student and my classes require a lot of reading. I also nod off after about ten minutes or so. It is very frusterating, I know. I just wanted you to know you aren't the only one experiencing this right now. Guest guest
How long have you been on the oxy? if it hasn't been too long, some of the sleepiness will wear off as your body becomes use to it - at least it did for me. Unfortunately, I think my body has become dependent on the OXI and now it doesn't help the pain as much. It's a real trade-off. I understand your frustration, as I love books also. I once owned a zillion once, but had to get rid of them when I moved due to space. But they are accumulating all over the floor again in stacks, and I also intend to read them. Don't give up! nne >a said: > Since I started on the oxy, I plain and simple can't sit and read a book. I nod off within 10 minutes without fail. Guest guest
a and others... I had this problem for awhile when starting oxy. I also am a voracious reader. What I did for myself that helped a little was to not sit or lay down to read. I would make sure I was in a position that wasn't conducive to sleeping. Sometimes I would stand at the kitchen counter or stand and lean on the railing around the balcony. I had to swap being totally comfortable with being able to stay awake long enough to get through a few chapters. I am sure there are a lot of 'downsides' to this for each of us, I am just passing on what I did. I know at least for myself, if I have to make changes there is usually a " if I want to do 'this', I will have to give up 'that'... " type of dilema. Good luck with this. Happy New Year to ALL. I also love reading, but I fall asleep if I'm reading, watching t.v. I have even fallen asleep while driving 3 times. I'm sick of living this way. Guest guest
But you have a DR that will give you something for the pain. Mine wont. He says that fibro is related to chemicals in the brain so it is not real pain. Hell it sure feels like real pain to me!! kat

I get them from Goodwill. I used to never go there but they get brand new things from Targets Dilliards etc. I have found some beautiful clothes that have tags. They even have the reading glasses for 1.99. It gives me an uplift to go there. I now know the girls at the register. They call me " The Kid lady " because they can't say anything to kids when they are yelling and taking things off shelf. I went over and asked the kids " Wow, what do you have there, where does it go, where does the other go,wow you are such a good organizer " They employees say, please come to work here. Well, I got placed on leave until they can medically certify me to work and I know I am not going back. I operated a Thrift Shop in the military and I think I would like it, I cannot be under stress and I certainly apply when I can. Try the books on Tape, Its not the same, but the ones that are humorous and cause me to laugh are good. I know some of the half price book stores trade out. I don't know about tapes. I had Joyce Meyer tapes and she makes me laugh and feel better and I pass them on. I used to read half a book a night and I do miss it. Hope you find a replacement. Just some ideas.
