Hi a

How long have you been taking the new medication? If

you just started taking it the sleepiness, will wear

off in time. Then you will be able to read, and

concentrate better too.

I've been on the oxycodone for about two-and-a-half weeks now. When I saw pain

doc for my regular visit last week (he prescribed the oxy when I went in for an

" emergency " visit), I told him about the fatigue, and he said that he can give

me something to help me stay awake, but that's yet another pill to take and I

should wait to see if my body adjusts to the oxy. So that's what I'm doing. But

I've been reading the same book now for two weeks, whereas usually I read two or

three books per week. Big difference.

I'll see if the fatigue eases up by the time I go to pain doc for my next

monthly check-in. If it hasn't, then I'll ask him for something to help keep me

alert during the day.

Thanks.

Hi a,

I cannot say that the same is the case for me with oxy. For some

reason, the meds that are supposed to make a person drowsy usually keep

me wide awake, especially my oxy.

With the meds that DO make me drowsy, it usually takes me 3 to 4 weeks for my

body to adjust and not feel so sluggish. You could always try what I do while

you wait for that adjustment to take place.

Since I like to read so much, when I feel drowsy while reading I change

positions often and even get up and walk around the room while reading. Not a

perfect fix, but it helps to extend my reading time.

Warmest Wishes,

Lynn
