Guest guest
I have a new dilemma that I'm hoping some of you can help me out with. Last week, I had 3 cortisone shots in my right foot, which is the one that had had the unsuccessful surgery to excise two Morton's neuromas back in June. The shots don't seem to have worked, as the foot is still very painful. So I've taken to walking with a cane again, to ease up some of the weight on the right foot. However, my left foot still has two Morton's neuromas. I can't/won't have surgery on it, as first of all, what happened with my right foot has left me leery, and also because no respectable surgeon is willing to give it a try. Now that I'm using the cane again, my left foot is bearing more of my weight, and wouldn't you know it, it's starting to act up something fierce. It has just been annoying before, never this painful. So the cane doesn't seem to be the answer, even though it does seem to help my right foot. I have a walker from after I broke my femur, but I can't use it because my right arm doesn't work, either! (After multiple surgeries to free up the nerves, I've got a ton of scar tissue in there. Again, no one will operate, so the right arm will continue to deteriorate and never improve unless medical science comes up with a miracle cure.) I can't possibly use my right arm for weight-bearing with the walker. No way, no how. (The same goes for using two canes.) Which, as I see it, leaves only one option available: a wheelchair. But that seems to be overdoing it in my case. I *can* walk, just not very far or for very long. I sure don't need one for use in the house, or for just running (limping, in my case) into a store. I'd only have to use one for wandering WalMart or the grocery store, let's say, and even then, not all the time. Can any of you come up with any other solutions? I'm stymied. I also doubt that insurance would cover the cost of a wheelchair at this point, because I am sort of mobile. I'm open to anything you might suggest. Thanks.
