Wound care in LTC facility

I am a PT that works in an outpatient rehab facility, however our facility

contracts with a long term care facility (not skilled) to provide their

therapy services. We very rarely get orders for wound care at the contract

facility, however one has recently come up and I was unsure at what point

Medicare would pay for wound care services. The wound is a stage two and

needs some minimal debridement and dressing changes, no whirlpool.

Obviously nursing can do the dressing changes, but will Medicare pay for the

debridement by PT in a long term care setting, or do they expect nursing to

provide that type of service (are nurses even allowed to perform

debridement?). Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
