Guest guest
Dear Crew, After one month out of communications, I have to say I really missed you all!!! My laptop is now finally working. I got an MRI on the 10th of this month and just heard briefly from my ENT of the results although I still need to meet with him and/or my NS. I've had a lot of delays and I might notget an appointment until January but there's not much I can do about it. He did say that my tumor had grown but was growing DOWN and was quite low so that it affected mainly the 9th and 10th cranial nerves. It was 1.5 cm and now is 2 cm or so. So even though it has grown it hasn't grown on the 8th any more but rather on the 9th and 10th. He said it was in the auditory canal which is why I have Tinnitus and that the severe earaches I have are because the sensories for the 8th cranial nerve are in the 9th. Can anyone follow? Well, I've never heard this before. I have had like a " lump " " in my throat for the past year which he said was because the tumor was so low. I still need to consult with the specialists but I did want to ask if anyone has any experience with this and tumors that afftected these nerves? I more or less have studied a " set pattern " of regular acoustic neuromas. I want to get this tumor out before it affects more of my swallowing etc. This tumor wasn't so slow and I don't know if it's the same thing - the smaller they are, the easier it is to take them out. What are the risks? I would appreciate any input. Thanks so much. You guys are the best! Thea
Guest guest
Hi Thea, Just wondering about something real quick. I'm sure other more veteran crewbies can chime in here though. Did you know it's not uncommon for us to have tumors in your throat? I have 4 on my jugular vein, but they are all really small. I don't even notice them. You said you have a lump?! Eek! Any lump I feel I worry it's a tumor, I'm kinda surprised no DR has checked into this. I know these tumors can be nasty if left untreated i.e. swallowing, voice and breathing! I'd get that one checked out ASAP. I hope I don't scare you, but don't let that go. I also know that sometimes they don't show up on MRI's because that's not what the radiologist is always looking for...Good luck to you, you deserve the best!
