Guest guest
I take triamterene/hctz for my high blood pressure. It has a diuretic in it. I think it's a pretty mild blood pressure med and never makes me feel weird. I have gone without it and had my pressure go really high so I've learned not to let myself run out. A funny story: my brother was put on a high blood pressure med that made him really cranky. Heck he was cranky without the bp med but he was way worse on it. His wife called the med his "a__ hole pills". ROFL Now as far as Sombra goes I don't think there's a place online to buy it. I do now the company makes another product that's exactly the same (according to the company) and it's sold over the counter (not by medical professionals). I'll have to find the name of it. Sombra does give heat but not as much as bengay usually. SharonJackie Hanan wrote: Howdy! Well, I am pre-hypertensive, and I don’t like the way the bp meds make me feel. Guest guest
Hey Sharon,………did you get my e-mail? I sent you a private letter last week I think it was? Anyhow, as far as BP goes, I really don’t have high BP. My Dr. said because it was over 130/70 a few times in a year that I was considered high. I say pre-high. Maybe? Anyhow, I think I might get a second opinion from a cardiologist and see if for my heart condition I need a BP med when I don’t consistently have high BP! In fact it only registers that way in her office, plus the cuff they use [the very biggest] hurts really bad, and pain will cause your BP to raise. I think I need a beta blocker to help relax the heart, but they have all kinds of bad side effects to them. So I’ll see what the heart Dr. says about it. I found a tonic made from Phytoplankton that has all kinds of good stuff in it I will be trying soon. My friend was taking it to help control chemo side effects, and the Dr. told her to hold off until she was through with the chemo because he thought it might affect the chemo’s effectiveness. After she finishes with the chemo he said go ahead and take it to build yourself up. If you or anyone wants to know what it is, e-mail me privately. I am NOT selling it or PROMOTING it, but I am excited to see what it will help for me. Guest guest
I did get your email and I'll write to you today. So what's the heart condition you have? It used to be that 130/70 would be an okay BP but that has changed. Now 130 is considered high or borderline. Thanks for sharing the info. It sounds interesting. Do you take vitamins or supplements? Guest guest
Good grief! 70 is the resting heart rate, VERY good and 130 is seldom considered by ANYONE to be HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE! My internist just happens also to be a cardiologist; my blood pressure is normally very low, but one has to climb up a ramp to get to his office, and mine occasio nally hit 130/70, and I was actually PRAISED for it. Mine is usually about 105-115/60 or even much lower when I am at rest. So now I arrive at my internist's early, and just hang out in the waiting room and now he gets to see how really low my BP will sink to when I am at rest. Guest guest
I guess it may vary from doctor to doctor. But my internist is at a large, well-known cardiology practice and she told me mine was borderline high at 130 and high at 140. She's the doc who put me on BP meds 7 years ago and I still see here now that I'm back in this part of Arizona. I also saw a wonderful nurse practitioner in Northern Arizona and an internist in Homer Alaska who both agreed that I had high blood pressure. Now without BP meds mine runs around 180 for a high number so I make sure I don't run out of my medication any longer. hugs)) Sharon n Rojas wrote: Good grief! 70 is the resting heart rate, VERY good and 130 is seldom considered by ANYONE to be HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE! Guest guest
Hi,…….no hurry about writing back, I was just wondering if you got it. J I have been having palpitations for quite a few years, and just in these last few months they have increased. I assumed it was from menopause, and tried to ignore them. I started having breathing problems, shortness of breath, and heart pounding with the least bit of activity. So then I thought because my weight has increased again, the symptoms were from that? Just to make sure I decided to have a heart monitor, and an echo cardiogram done. The long and short of it, is I indeed have tachycardia, and I have Diastole Heart failure or dysfunction. Which means my heart isn’t relaxing between beats. Usually what causes that is high BP. Then they put you on beta blockers, or Ace inhibitors to control the blood pressure, and make it so the heart doesn’t have to work as hard. My Dr. thinks because my BP has been elevated a few times during the year that the cause of the DHF is from the blood pressure. But…… I think its from obesity, and possibly from any of the three main illnesses I have. I do think I need to see a cardiologist for a second opinion as far as what meds to take. I had a funny reaction to the ACE meds, and I wasn’t even on a full dose. I want to know what else might cause the stiffness of the heart wall, and what I can take naturally to help relax it? If I have to take a ACE I will, and just put up with the side effects, but only if it is a life or death thing. I am trying to lose weight again, and that will help too. My BP has always been low, so having it higher is not normal for me. I’m not sure why its doing that unless its because of the weight, or age, or from sleep apnea which I also have. I have so many things going on its pathetic! Lol….what a life, eh? I don’t take vitamins as most of the ones I’ve tried I get sick off of them. I can get some vitamins by drinking my protein shakes, but as far as taking capsules I prefer liquid if I can tolerate them. I’m curious to see how my stomach/intestines can handle the “plankton”! Guest guest
I think that you have it pretty well analysed. I would never have seen a heart specialist were it not for the fact that my internist is also a cardiologist and he really scrutinizes this stuff. It may seem like a bit much, but it never hurts to be careful. Love to you, Jackie, n, who has lost ten pounds in two weeks! A pity that I would probably have to lose about thirty more before anyone noticed! I am not "fat," but am tall and have huge bone structure, and I think a bit off is a good thing! Guest guest
Akiba, 126/70 is great! It's been so long since I've seen those numbers on myself, it's not even funny! Mine usually runs about 147/98. And has gone up to 154/108. I was on medication for it for awhile. I had surgery about 4 years ago. When I came out of the hospital, I quit taking my meds. The BP had dropped to a manageable. I have noticed here lately that it's starting to creep up again. I'm going to try to manage it with diet and exercise, first before I do anything. God bless...Val -- Re: OT-Best Natural remedies companies (Jackie) Good grief! 70 is the resting heart rate, VERY good and 130 is seldom considered by ANYONE to be HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE! But…… I think its from obesity, and possibly from any of the three main ill nesses I have. So what's the heart condition you have? It used to be that 130/70 would be an okay BP but that has changed. Now 130 is considered high or borderline. Thanks for sharing the info. It sounds interesting. Do you take vitamins or supplements? Sharon Jackie Hanan wrote: Hey Sharon,………did you get my e-mail? Sombra does give heat but not as much ! as bengay usually. SharonJackie Hanan wrote: Howdy! Well, I am pre-hypertensive, and I don’t like the way the bp meds make me feel. So I was thinking if I could find an alternative herbal prep then maybe I can keep it from getting any higher! I have a monitor that helps me know where I am with that. If after awhile it doesn’t seem to be making a difference I can always try a different BP med. I did find something that sounded interesting called phytoplankton. My friend has been using it along with her chemo treatments, and she had no! side effects last time. Its suppose to be a total food supplement. I’m NOT promoting it, just a matter of conversation! J I’ve heard about Sombra, can you get that online too? Does it give a warming feeling? I had some stuff with capsaicin in it, and it dern near cooked me! I like a little warmth, but even Ben ! Gay doesn’t always mix well with HOT FLASHES!! ACKKKKKKK!!! I would be open to trying natural remedies for it as long as I took my regular med too. Anyway... enough preaching on that subject. Sorry! For vitamins and such I like I Herb. http://iherb.com I just started on their good Rx Omega 3 Factors Fish Oil and I feel a difference already. In your email earlier you mentioned using ben gay and other stuff. Have you ever tried Sombra? It's a natural pain relief gel used at physical therapy offices. The PT place I went to last ! sells it to patients. I need to get more. Sharon Jackie Hanan wrote: Hi everyone,…..for those of you who use natural products what online companies do you buy from? I know we’ve talked about this before, but I can’t remember where you all buy your stuff from. I’m looking for a reputable online natural pharmacy. Has anyone had any experience with Dr. Mercola’s supplements? I’m looking for something to help regulate blood pressure. I know that Hawthorn berry, gingko, garlic, calcium/magnesium are good for the heart, but now I need to know where I can buy them online? Thanks for any help you can give, and for repeating what was said before! J Smiles and hugs, Jackie [oregon] Sharon (MSersLife creator/owner) “One minute it's a giant cabbage and the next, ka-boom!
