Guest guest
Lynn, It's my sincerest wish that there wouldn't be a NEED for groups like this, but as far as they go (and I've searched!) this one is great. I thought that the moderation part would be a hassle, but believe me, the women that do it are all one in a million. They keep the group running smooth, and keep the place free of a lot of the strife that most public groups go through. Funny thing is, I only started out with Fibromyalgia and the tendonitis, rather than the " laundry list " , and it just snowballed from there. And yes, my PCP at least, has been starting to say that he at least, is running out of options to treat me. My pain doc, thankfully, is still pretty fresh! And while I DID start life as a healthy person, in the past 4 years, my medical file has grown considerably in the past 4 years! I've had bouts of reactive hypoglycemia, so I can " kind of " understand trying to get the blood sugar level up, but wow, it really sounds like you had a day of it, and on Christmas to boot! Do you only have one kidney? It kind of sounds like it from the way you worded things? If so, are you on some sort of donor list? Yes, that surgery was very unpleasant for my niece, as was the ensuing pain she endured when she unexpectedly started growing again. They have thought about removing the current steel rod and replacing it, but she's said " NO WAY! " She's got a very active little boy to look after (He has ADHD), so I can't say that I blame her. I can't believe they wanted to do that to you at 10! The surgery my co-worker had was fairly sucessful, where they literally pulled her spine out and straightened it, but then she lived in what she called a " turtle shell " for almost a year. It's really sad that they turned you down for disability based on your age alone! Disabled is disabled, regardless of age! You may be chronologically young enough to work, but physically unable! Sometimes I wonder about the system! It seems like a horrible dream that they expected you to be under a doctor's care, but since you weren't able to work, didn't have insurance, so you couldn't afford to see a doctor to get them to declare you unable to work. It's like a big, vicious cycle, but sounds so much like the system! I'm glad you got a job that allows you to be able to sit down, and to be able to PLAN to stay sitting down if you are having a very bad day. I really, truly hope you get offered a permanent position next month, but you're right. Even an employer who claims to be an " Equal Opportunity Employer " a lot of the times tries to wiggle around that! And I'm really feeling for you about being off your pain meds for 5 days before your drug screening. I hope, for your sake, that it does work out that you can take the screen on Monday, so that you can go in, take the test, and walk out and take your meds before going to work! It's VERY messed up that we have to resort to this sort of thing just to get or keep a job! Thanks for the good wishes. No, manual labor jobs are not good for CP at all, especially the one I had. Being exposed to petrochemicals every day kept me in an almost constant flare and exhausted, and then working with bearing assemblies that weighed more than me on a regular basis didn't help my back a whole lot! I hope your holiday was good too, and keep us posted on the job situation! All my best, Jen Z.
