Hi Becky Have you tried adding Soy, or Rice milk to your diet? You can buy it early, because it doesn't have to be refrigerated until you open it. Okay, folks I am not a vegetarian, nor vegan etc. so if I have this wrong, please tell us. Guest guest
I'm a vegetarian. I make sure I either have soy(many different kids of meat substitute type products out there and soy mild too!) , nuts, beans or a whole wheat product with protien (dairy sometimes). I eat 5 small meals (portions) a day. I find this has totally boosted my metabilism and even though sometimes it feels like I'm eating all the time, I have lost wieght. Also, every morning I take some type of Omega 3 & 6 oils. For blood pressure/cholesteral you can get this in prescription strength called Lovaza which is a measured strength of Omega 3's. But I ususally just take Flax Seed Oil because my insurance doesn't pay for the Lovaza. If your not a breakfast eater, putting some Flax oil in a smoothie(yogurt or soy milk) and drinking it is a great way to get protien. Fish (or fish oil) is also a wonderful way to get not only protien but the Omega's you need. Omega's can help cholesteral, depression, wieght issues and has helped my dry skin too. But of course, you would need to talk to your Dr. about it especially if you are wanting to take it for high cholesteral. I used to think I wasn't getting enough protien but really I was just getting too many carbs. This is what you have to watch out for or will likely gain weight. Good luck, Caitlin Moderator Kaylene wrote: --- Rebbecca Nix wrote: > I am slowly working my way up to eating protein at > least three times a day. Guest guest
Hi Caitlin, Like I said in my post, I'm supposed to eat five or six smaller meals a day. I eat mostly veggies and whole grains with usually soy proteins, nuts, etc. I can't eat that much soy because it upsets my stomach. I have been drinking soy milk for years and have bought the soy products for years and they still cause me to have horrible gas pains lol. If I do eat a carbohydrate, I always add in some type of healthy fat or protein with it to balance it out. Love, Becky --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.
Guest guest
Beans and corn products, eaten together, also make a complete protein. My favorites are to have pinto or kidney beans with corn tortillas or black eyed peas or bean chili with corn bread. Love and gentle hugs, Debi/So.
