Guest guest
My son and I were lucky and had a 4 out of 6 HLA match, which was considered very good. As parent to child, you know you will have at least a 3 out of 6 match (50%), and that¹s considered very acceptable. With a sibling to sibling match, it could be anything from 0/6 to 6/6, but usually you get at least 2 or 3 matching antigens. With a lower match, you generally have to take higher doses of the immunosuppressants after the transplant, so you should be fine with a 50% match. Thanks for the article very interesting and informative. Betsy > Thanks Betsy and Marty for the information. Yes, certainly our goal is > laparoscopic surgery to the extent that it is possible.
