Guest guest
Ruthie, What kind of physical therapy are you taking? I had my first water therapy class on Friday and I am in one of the worst flares that I have had. The pain medicine is not even taking the edge off. I have my first psychologist appointment in the morning and I'm afraid that I will not be able to drive myself. Hope to learn more from you. Guest guest
Cammie, I just started PT and I am not sure I am going to continue because I think the back stretches caused my latest flare up. They have me lying on my stomach and trying to press my shoulder blades together, doing back bends and some knee exercises to strenghten my quads. The knee exercises are ok but I am in mortal pain from the back exercises. My back muscles are very highly developed (for a girl, LOL!) and they are also extremely tight. I think the exercises are to tighten and fatigue the muscles so that when you release they will relax. WRONG-O! LOL! Mine tighten up and stay there. I am thinking I could get better relaxation from a 5th of Scotch (kidding) What seems to help me more is the 18 inch long electric massage wand I can use on my back myself. Wait for someone to help me I would be on the floor. Ruthie > Ruthie, > > What kind of physical therapy are you taking? Guest guest
Hi Ruthie - you aren't my Ruthie from the Lupus group we were in right? That must sound so stupid rofl! But I had to ask..., Massage wand?? That sounds like something for me. Well, for when my tissue can actually be touched.. ;- / I assume it has a long handle so we don't have to necessarily kill our arms, trying to use it? :-) I am new here too, but welcome to the group. li ----- Original Message ----- What seems to help me more is the 18 inch long electric massage wand I can use on my back myself. Guest guest
No, sweetie, thankfully I do not have Lupus. As for the long handled massage wand, it is about 18 inches long and allows me to reach the part of my back that kills me so badly. I got it years ago at KMart.
