I think so, Sharon, and I am so sorry that upi are going through this--I only

have it periodically, but have had it since age nine! Love in heaps, n

Is this Spasticity?

I think it's odd that I'm not sure.

As some of you know I have had a difficult time for some months now with leg pain, especially at night. I've been on increasing dosages of Baclofen and it's made a huge difference. Now the pain is increasing again but thankfully isn't at the level it was two months ago (at least not yet).

Tell me if this is how your spasticity is: At night I keep waking with leg discomfort with my legs feeling stressed. I move them around and get them in a relaxed position and fall back asleep. I rouse again in a few minutes with them straight and uncomfortable again. This happens over and over all night long.

It dawned on me at 3:30 this morning that this is probably spasticity. Am I right????

love to all of you

Sharon

It also might be RLS (Restless leg Syndrome) but in another form? Try Magnesium, it will help so many things, whether it helps this or not (and I think it will) I take 400 mg at night just before bed. TG it's fairly cheep since SO many of our supplements are SO costly!!! Nice to have a few that aren't!

Hi Sharon,……I just sent an article over about spasticity

that I thought explained it well. I forgot to sign my name to the message! Geeeesh!!

I can’t

take baclofen as it causes extreme muscle weakness, and didn’t really

help me relax. If I have any physical stimuli like a tickle, or an itch,

bladder fullness, etc. my legs will spasm. I never knew how much the body was

connected until I got MS! Lol…. J A full bladder is the worse. Why that should cause

spasms in my legs I’ll never know?

I hope

the article is helpful!

Thank you Jackie. I'll go read the article you sent. It's gotten worse today as the day has worn on so I'm thinking tonight will be really bad. My legs are tremor-y, shaky, kind of jumpy and I'm feeling little electric shocks in them. I'm in tears right now. Now Jackie I think you know me well enough to know I don't go to tears easily--I've been through my share of problems over the past few years and I think I'm pretty tough, but this one has me feeling pretty low. Today my bladder is acting up too. I've been running (term is used very loosely...lol) to the bathroom all day and I'm leaky. My neuro wants me to go to his office for a nerve conduction on my legs and I've had to cancel it several times. I need to call tomorrow and reschedule. His office is in Phoenix and I just hate to go over there. I'll have to

check with my son to see when he can take me. Thanks for your sympathetic ear my friend. Sharon,

I know exactly how you feel and how painful your legs must be. I've had many relapses, and so many times, right before going into remission, that's when I get the spasticity in either my legs or arms. It can be so painful. I know for sure, it has made even a grown man want to cry.

It may be a good idea to go ahead and see your doctor. But, then again, I'm not exactly the one I would look up to. When it comes to health and doctors, I don't always practice what I preach.

Hope you start feeling better soon.

Blessed be....Val

hi Sharon ~ I have this also - only now that I take Clonazepam for sleep, I don't wake up, but my son said he's surprised I don't wake myself up, because my legs "spaz" so hard sometimes he couldn't believe I could sleep through it! I have alot of pain in my left leg & that's the one that spasms the hardest. I've taken to using a body pillow that I put my left leg over, so it's slightly raised & it seems more comfortable. I'm sorry I've rambled on so, but yes, it sure sounds like spasticity to me - have you ever tried Zanaflex? It works very well for spacticity. Hi Debbie: I took Clonazepam years ago and it worked very well for me. I've not tried Zanaflex. I'm sure my neuro will give me something else when I tell him about the current state of my legs. I haven't told him about the current increase in pain/stiffness because I am supposed to get over to his office for tests. I have canceled twice and I need to get it rescheduled. (I don't drive any longer, the doc's is 50 miles away, no public transportation where I am, son will take me but his schedule is packed for the next few weeks). What I am experiencing does sound like what you go through. I have at times used a pillow too. Sometimes it bugs me really bad though. I have so

many things that 'bug' me now for some reason... and when they 'bug' me I can't sleep no matter what. I feel like such a nut case sometimes. LOL Thanks for telling me what works for you. It helps knowing others deal with the same thing. hugs) Sharon Deborah wrote: hi Sharon ~ I have this also - only now that I take Clonazepam for sleep, I don't wake up, but my son said he's surprised I don't wake myself up, because my

I know what you mean when you say things "bug" you. Clothing sometimes really bugs me...or if the comforter is not settled just right. Strange things, glas I'm not the only one!!!
