Guest guest
I am on Methadone. You will love it at least from my perspective! I live a fairly normal life, at least for me. My pain is less at least more tolerable, I am never not in pain but I have a ton more things wrong than you do. Do not look at this as a sentence to a life of pain and always suffering just look at this as a new normal. Gwen
Guest guest
I used to take it but could not stop yawning. There are more accidental deaths from methadone than from other narcotics. Why didn't he just increase the methadone or try dilaudid? medusa ----- Original Message ----- He also said that he thinks I am now in the chronic phase of CRPS (I was diagnosed with it 10 months ago) and that I am developing a tolerance to pain meds. So he now put me on Methadone. Is anyone on this? What do they think about it? Are there many side effects? >

Guest guest
Methadone is the only med that worked for me. I have no side effects, and pain is managed effectively. Guest guest
I took Methadone for many years, in between doses I took MS Contin, it helped a lot untill 4 months ago. the Methadone started giving me heart problems, so had to discontinue. even though I'm still taking MS Contin, and Aqtiq I miss the help that the Methadone did for my nerve pain. melissa

Gwen " a new normal " , i like that. my story goes like this. two lower back fusions, and the usual laminectimy. i've been taking 360mg. of oxycontin a day, plus around four or more of norco a day. our plan is to reduce the dosages and eventually replace the oxycontin with methadone. i've always thought it just replaced the craving, but i would like some info what it does with the pain. any info? what does it do to side-effects. thanks G.L. Guest guest
Is Oshu taking a skin test for your job? I work in a hospital and my Dr wrote a note for my file at work, i made sure i made copies and kept the original just in case..... I do notice while working (12hr night shifts) that i have to use 40mgs to keep going, this just takes the " edge " off and gets me through my long shifts. I keep a few doses in my purse at all times, just never know when i may need a dose quickly. But i have been off work (short term disability) since Aug and have cut down my Methadone use to 20mgs per day (i did this with my Dr's knowledge) So here i sit at home in pain and of course we all know what cold weather does to our pain levels. I'm glad that Methadone is working for you as many people tell me about how they heard that it is only used for drug addicts, so i HAVE to inform them differently. Darn those new stories for giving this med a bad " rap " --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search. I take 2 to 3 tabs 4 times a day. Hi Doug I find Methadone very helpful too. It's long lasting, and very inexpensive. My psychiatrist, handles my pain management, and treatment for my Bipolar Disorder. The Methadone, doesn't cause any adverse interactions with my Psych medication's. I hope everyone will type Methadone, instead of abbreviate it to meth. That's an entirely different drug! Guest guest
I have been on Methadone for a few months and I have to say that this is the first drug that has given me some relief. I have been on Percoset, Fentanyl, and Morphine. None of them really helped much with the pain. My neurologist told me that he thinks that I was developing a tolerance to the pain meds, therefore he did the switch to Methadone. I do feel quite a bit of relief with that and can really notice when I don’t take it. The only problem for me with Methadone is that because it gives me relief, I feel like I can do things that I shouldn’t do. Then I end up in a major flare for a few days wishing that I hadn’t done it in the first place :-) I never seem to learn! Just feels great to feel somewhat better if only for a short time. I am on 1 ½ tablets three times a day. I also do take Percoset twice a day when I am having flare ups but that’s better than taking the Percoset 5 times a day which is what I was doing before the switch. Guest guest
Me and my friends joke that I am on " meth " .... I'm actually taking Methadone. With all the pain I have to joke from time to time. Jade Kaylene wrote: I hope everyone will type Methadone, instead of abbreviate it to meth. That's an entirely different drug! Guest guest
Methadone is also the only drug that has worked for me. I have tried nearly every other pain medication and an entire list of psychological/nerve blocker type drugs. But nothing was working. And the amount of Methadone I have to take to control the pain is next to nothing. I was taking 10-12 pills a day of this and that med and never had relief until now.
