Hi all. I just joined and wanted to introduce myself. My name is

and I was diagnosed with CRPS 9 months ago after I was bit

by a cat (of all things). The bite became infected, I had surgery,

and two weeks later I have CRPS. It has since spread to arms, legs,

feet, back, shoulders, elbows, etc. I have been seeing a pain

doctor (second one) and a neurologist. I have gone through many

many treatments (nerve blocks, SQ infusions, IV infusions, variety

of meds, PT) and nothing is helping. It has actually gotten worse.

I now use a cane mainly at home. I get so sore and painful that it

is difficult to move some days. I have a 2 year old and a 12 year

old so that makes life much more interesting as well.

I recently went to a rheumatologist (referred by my neurologist)

because I had an abnormal rheumatoid factor. The rheumatologist

thinks everything is related to the chronic pain syndrome and not

due to something like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis (although he had

bloodwork done to confirm that). So I " m back to square one again.

I just don't want to deal with this anymore. I am very frustrated

and sick of always being in pain. I am seeing a psychologist, and

he's a great guy, but it doesn't seem to be a huge help to me at

this point because emotionally I am a wreck!!!

Anyhow, looking forward to talking with others who actually know

what I am going through. It's hard for friends and family as they

don't quite understand what is going on and how to help. It is just

frustrating that doctors don't know more about it either.

Dear :

It is so regretful that you have complex regional pain syndrome also previously

know as RSD. I have been fighting this deamon for ten years.

I feel the reason some of your friends and family do not understand what you are

going through is because they probably never heard of the illness. Education is

the key factor here. You need to educate them. I printed information about RSD

and gave it to my husband and best friends and family members so they could have

a better understanding. It is up to them to read it and try to understand. If

they do not read it is their fault they do not understand not yours.

I will pray for you , God Bless you.

Thank you for the response. I guess my husband understands some as I keep

telling him things, but he still doesn't understand the days that I am very

depressed or crabby due to the pain. He'll say things like, you seemed OK this

morning. That gets frustrating as well.

I am sorry that you have been battling this for 10 years. How do you do it? I

thought 9 months was bad.

I had a horrible morning today. I just lost it. I was crying very hard and

couldn't move well.

I have my cane here at work with me today for the first time and didn't want to

bring it but I can't do anything without it today.

Hi and welcome.

I'm sorry it was pain that brought you here but I think you have found what your

looking for. The people here are wonderful. It's like one big family.

Everyone understands what your going through.

Being depressed goes along with chronic pain. I along with most here take

anti-depressants. I fight it every day. My therapist is this group and a

couple of other MS groups and of course the main one is God. I have learned to

turn everything over to him and trust me it's the only way I could ever deal

with it.

I wish the best for you and any time you need to talk or just vent we are here.

Thank you for the welcome. I am glad that I found this group. Why I

didn’t find this earlier I don’t know. It wasn’t until I received an

email from a friend today asking me if I had joined any yahoo groups did I think

about it.

I am sure that I will take you up on your offer of talking or venting.
