Guest guest
hey...that's kind of interesting that you post this at this exact moment because i have been thinking that i actually have some self harming behavior. when i was in high school, i used to sew my fingers together. it was fun to gross people out. hehehe... also, in art classes, whenever we were using exacto knives, i never worried about cutting myself. in fact i actually liked the fact that i could cut myself and it would be pretty bad and people would freak out and i would be all, " relax, it's just a cut. " didn't even take any precautions to prevent cutting myself, so i was always slicing into the pad of my thumb. if you look at my fingerprints, you can see little scars that traverse the spirals. i pierced my own ears several times. just sharpened the posts of stud earrings and popped them through the cartilage. i totally bite myself, still. i bite the pads on my thumbs and fingers. i tear my nails off if i don't keep them short enough. i cut off all the white of my nails because if i don't, i'll scratch myself until there's no skin left. i slap my arms and legs. hmm...interesting...never really thought about all this until like (LITERALLY) 30 minutes ago. bink -- In WTOAdultChildren1 , " Girlscout Cowboy " wrote: > > Hi hi, If you are a cutter or are struggling with self harm, please don't > read this if there is a chance you will be triggered. > > > > I was reading online about child abuse/bpd stuff a couple of days ago. Guest guest
Autistic children bite themselves. And it seems to be, at least for my son, when he is unable to communicate to you his needs. It's probably very painful for him. Then, he becomes frustrated if you say no to his request and he keeps trying to explain his need. I don't think he quite understands that I understand and that the answer is sometimes no. I've noticed in autistic kids that they have several things mentioned in other kids that show up as " abused reactions " or stemming from abuse or feeling demeaned or something. And I find it interesting. Because, the parents may not be abusing them. But, in a way life is. And their lives are very hard because of the disability. They lose much of their freedom to choose their own lives choices. It's very sad. > > Hi hi, If you are a cutter or are struggling with self harm, please don't > read this if there is a chance you will be triggered. > > > > I was reading online about child abuse/bpd stuff a couple of days ago. Guest guest
Although I stopped biting my nails in high school, I constantly chewed my fingertips & cuticles & always had at least 5 scabbed & bleeding at any one time until I went NC with nada 6 months ago. I haven't chewed them since. Coincidence? I think not.
Guest guest
Hey Cam, I'm sorry that your son has a disability but I am glad he has you for his mom. Do you know anything about autism and BPD being related? I think they are, BPD is the opposite, basically emotional hemophilia but it seems connected. gs > > Although I stopped biting my nails in high school, I constantly chewed > my fingertips & cuticles & always had at least 5 scabbed & bleeding at > any one time until I went NC with nada 6 months ago. Guest guest
You are not alone. I used to do this as well at those same ages. It is so sad to be desperate to have some physical evidence of the trauma that you would resort to self injury just to have something to show for it. I thought it was just me. more self harm memories Hi hi, If you are a cutter or are struggling with self harm, please don't read this if there is a chance you will be triggered. I was reading online about child abuse/bpd stuff a couple of days ago. I read something (can't even remember where) about kids of the mentally ill or mentally ill kids. Anyway, it said that some kids slap themselves, bite themselves and claw at themselves with their nails. I didn't remember that I did all these things between ages 11 and 15 until I read this. I did them all and often. Scary and definitly a sign of an unhealthy upbringing. If I saw a child doing any of those things I would seriously get help for that kid. That can't be normal but when I was young I thought it was. I'ts a powerful memory for me and I'm glad now that I remember, validation. gs
Guest guest
I wonder if there is more autism in BPD families? Interesting to look into that. > > > > Although I stopped biting my nails in high school, I constantly chewed > > my fingertips & cuticles & always had at least 5 scabbed & bleeding at > > any one time until I went NC with nada 6 months ago.
