I don't know where you live, but if you live in a town with more

than one hospital, check around to see if any of them offer free

smoking cessation classes through their cardiopulmonary or

respiratory therapy units. My local hospital offers a 9 week one,

that provides support as well as free cessation products such as

Nicoderm CQ patches, Nicorette gum, and the lozenges, not sure who

those are made by! They provide the whole 9 week supply, or a combo

supply, such as patches and gum or lozenges, whatever it takes to

make the cessation program work for you, plus a weekly support

meeting.

Call your local hospital or hospitals, and see if they have a

program like this. It can't hurt to ask, and you might be

pleasantly surprised, or you could ask your doctor on Thursday if he

knows. And considering how expensive just the patches are, free

sounds pretty good! I am planning on taking the next session at my

hospital. Did you know that smoking dilates the blood vessels,

which means less blood and oxygen are getting to your body,

increasing pain levels? Sadly enough, I have known this for a while

now, and even tried to quit once, but a bunch of stress came into my

life all at once and caused a major setback (before I got wrongfully

fired from my job!). We'd probably both feel better for it!

I'm sorry you had to go through that pain, but I'm glad to hear it

wasn't heart related!

All my best,

Jen
