Guest guest
Hi I have been lurking for some time (about a year and a half) and I guess it is now time to ask a couple of questions. I am a male in my late forties and due to my job get transferred often. To make a long story short many of my symptoms are very similar to MS and it has been a struggle to get a doctor to listen. In the last couple of months I have seen several neurologist (working together) and stumped at least one of them. I had an EMG, but no MRI. I lit up the EMG machine before I was even touched by the probe. The diagnosis is Cramp-Fascilation Syndrome (it looks like it also goes by Isaac's Syndrome or Neuromyotonia). It is very rare and not much is written about it. It has something to do hypersensitivity of the peripheral nerves and the potassium channel and not lesions on the myelin. I am taking Tegretol and it is taking the edge off most of the symptoms. We are still working on which drugs will work the best. Also, when I get transferred closer to a University, in a couple of months, I will try to get seen by one of their neurologist. Okay, here are the questions. (1) Is there anybody on this forum with Cramp-Fascilation Syndrome? (2) Did anybody get this diagnosis before being told they have MS?
