Guest guest
You have to have Vitamin D checked by a dr and prescribed by one also, what a drag. Same with potassium. Correct me if I'm wrong! My dr will only give me D in the winter. Guest guest
Hello everyone I had hoped that very short time spent in a tanning bed, would help in the natural production of Vitamin D, but I was absolutely wrong! Do don't let anyone try to tell you that it will help, regardless of which type of tanning bed used. Here is a link with general information about Vitamin D. Most foods, especially anything that contains Calcium, is Vitamin D fortified. Our bodies must have Vitamin D, for us to absorb Calcium. Make certain, if you purchase a Calcium supplement, that it also contains Vitamin D. Here is a useful link, from medicinenet.com: http://tinyurl.com/w4lcb Kaylene ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Get your email and see which of your friends are online - Right on the New Yahoo.com (http://www.yahoo.com/preview)
Guest guest
Thank you, Kaylene I have never used a tanning bed. I try to avoid the sun to a point. I do know that being in the sun helps with health. But, extended times in the sun can harm you. I wear at least an SPF 25-30 sunscreen. Usually, I will buy an SPF 30 unless I am unable to find it. I have sun damage from when I was a younger child spending countless hours in the ocean lol. But, I didn't know that tanning beds didn't help in the production of Vitamin D. The foods, I would rather take in than a supplement. But, Vitamin D is in my multivitamin that I take. Love, Becky in SD
Guest guest
K2, I'm getting my levels checked again on Monday. In the last week I have been very nauseated and have to urinate a lot. These are suppose to be signs of Vit. D overdose, but I could just have some kind of bug (my daughter had somethng last week)? Its not severe enough to warrent going to the emergency room or anything. I have not had any dizzy spells or anything like that. My leg cramping has gone away (almost) and some of my pain has gotten better. But its hard to tell with Fibro since we have flairs. When it rains or its cold, I'm still hurting(like today!). I was hoping it would help with the neuropathy but it hasn't. It may be coincidence but it seems to have helped my overall pain during my periods, including the PMS. Hope your levels have evened out so you don't have to take it anymore if you don't think it is helping you. I'm suppose to take 1000 IU daily after that initial 50,000 IU a week. How about you? Guest guest
She did not say what she recommends afterwards. This is a rheumy who basically " dissed " me at the two appts I went to, so I am not going back to her anyway. I'll work with my PCP on it instead and am having her refer me to a new rheum. However, my multivitamin that I don't take on Sundays but do take all other days has the RDA of Vit D in it. K2 I'm suppose to take 1000 IU daily after that initial 50,000 IU a week. How about you?
