I'm a lil curious.Have you been deaf very long?

I noticed you said in your post that you assign voices to

people.interesting.It is not a concious effort with me.Its there.I have often

thot it works like this(this is just my feeling)

It seems like the eyes gather a ffile of info on

the person/subject and pass it along to the brain where it's processed and

given an appropriate voice.I doubt I will ever hear Goldie Hawns voice when

Arnold Scwarzneggar comes on the screen.smile

I am interested in hearing from other crewbies who after they lost thier

hearing DONT have these sounds as I thot it was a universal thing. June, When

did you lose your hearing and how long had you been a hearing

person before the onset of deafness?? And of course do you drink Cherry Coke?

Maybe this has had an effect on me LOL....Jim in FL

Hey Jim -- that's a thought. Maybe it's the Diet Coke. Maybe we should

boycott Coke products. (FYI - I think that's kind of silly!!:)

Umm.. Let's see...I had my first AN surgery in October of 1983 (left side)

and my second December 1983 (riight side) when I was 19 years old. I could

still hear after the first surgery and by November - Thanksgiving I was

totally deaf (110%). So, I remember (sometimes) how people sound and just

put the voice I remember with the moving lips. It might not be right, but it

works for me. And if I don't know how the person's real voice sounds, then I

just give them one from " my " collection. :)

Oh I forgot, the first indication that there was anything wrong with my

hearing was in the late summer of 1983 when I picked up the telephone and put

it to my left ear and heard nothing.
