Guest guest
That is great to hear. Most stories I hear about Valtrex are positive. Do you remember about when the rash occured with your son? Also you said your son is a totally normal kid on Valtrex, what happens when he is off Valtrex? Does he regress? How were his behaviors before you went on it? Thank you so much for your earlier reply. I hope that I am not asking too many questions. Also, good luck with Namenda let me know if his speech improves. Thanks again, Celena > > > Hello mb12 valtrex group, > > > > My name is Celena and my son was diagnosed with Autism May 26th of > > this year. This is my first time writing to this group. Guest guest
Hi Celena-Never too many questions, I'm just like you My son's rash started at around the 7-10 day back and has been continuing off and on. Every time he has a rash he regresses when the rash is in full swing and then he seems to gain when the rash clears. Before starting Valtrex he was in his own little world, now everything is new to him, never tantrums, is happy all the time and loves people. The only thing it has not improved is his speech so we are moving on with the Namenda and LDN to see if they help. He seems pretty much like a normal kid except for speech. Oh, we can take him any where now too, just got back from Disneyland and a weeks vacation at a resort, where we ate at a restaurant every night and he did fabulous!!!!Good luck and you can email me if you want to!@... Guest guest
We had him on the GFCF diet for 6 month and saw no improvements so we took him off and he seems MUCh happier and healthier being off the diet, so eating at restaurants wasn't a problem for us! Besides the Valtrex, is he on any special diet? And what kind of foods did he eat at the restaurants? Sounds like he doing great ! That is great to hear. Guest guest
We started when he was 2.3 years old and he is now 2 1/2 so we are on our 4 month using it. We will at least us it another few months before I consider removing it. I just want to find the key to his speech first before we remove something that is working so well for him. There are very few side effects with this drug except for the rash - which is usually a good thing. Good luck in what ever you decide. thanks for your reply.
