My son, Hayden, 3 y/o, has been on 3 different

antibiotics for a bad sinus infection since August 9th. Vantin, Aug ES, and

Bactrim. We finished the last dose on Sat night. Obviously, he is now very

yeasty acting. He is very whiny, not sleeping well, mouthing things, seems

spacey, and still has his sinus infection...ughhhh. So, I just called my DAN

doctor to request a RX for diflucan. Anything else anyone can think of to help?

Maybe bumping up his GSE. He is on 8 drops 2 x day now. Oh, and I forgot to

mention he had a very faint rash on his torso, back, buttocks and face sunday

night and monday and was gone by this morning.

Any advice would be much appreciated. BTW, as of right now, my son has not been

diagnosed with autism but has moderate sensory integration disorder.

Thank you so much in advance,

Christy

antibiotics and probiotics should be spaced out at least 2 hours apart.

Hi , we've not used Candidase however I did find this explanation about yeast/autism behaviors:

Why Autism May Be Yeast Connected

There appear to be several mechanisms. One of these appears to be the direct effect of candida toxins on the brain. In a report describing his studies on concdida toxins in mice, Iwata, a Japanese mycologist, commented:

"Canditoxins produced unique clinical symptoms. Immediately after ..... intravenous injection (of toxin) animals exhibited ruffled fur and unsettled behavior. Toxicity was so acute and severe that the majority of treated animals succumbed ... within 48 hours. Within 10 minutes after being given a dose of toxin, the animsl became unsettled and irraitable; had congestion of the cunjunctiva, ears and ohter parts of the body and finally developed paralysis of the extremities."

In a paper published in another journal describing his research studies on mice, Iwata commented:

"When infected into uninfected mice, Canditoxin exerted toxic manifestations in spleen lymphoid cells... This indicates the possibility that .... the toxin produced in the invaded tissues may act as an immuniosuppressant to impair host defense mechanisms involving cellular immunity."

A second way Candida may be related to autism is through the disturbance of the normal balance of microorganisms in the intestinal tract. When this occurs, the protective membrane lining the intestines is weakened. As a results, food allergens are absorbed and this may cause adverse reactions in the nervous system.

You could try s. boulardii.

http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/SiteSearchResult.aspx?strSiteSearch=saccharomyces

It's a " good yeast " that goes after the bad yeast. Don't take GSE or other

antifungals at the same time, or it defeats the purpose. The antifungals do not

differentiate between good and bad yeast and will kill them both.

We are just finishing a very successful trial of s.boulardii. We used Dr.

Baker's protocol and got up to 9/day. My son has seemed NT for most of the

trial.

If you're using GSE, S. Boulardii should be on board. What happens is that when you use antifungals and antibiotics it causes the yeast to flare. So once you dose GSE, 2-3 hours after you should be administering a probiotic such as Culturelle, S. Boul., Ther-biotic Detox Support (Klaire Labs), Ther-biotic Complete Powder, L. Acidophilus, etc., or whichever you choose because the probiotics are going to replace the good bacteria that is lost whe usin antifungals and antivirals. Using them in rotating order is recommended.

NanciWhat is Dr. Baker's protocol? My son's yeast has flared up too and I am trying to GSE, but it hasn't helped much. I am interested in S. Boulardii.- Angay

I use Oil of Oregano - you can buy it at the vitamin store. I think it works really well- I can tell the diff if he isn't taking it. His lips get kind of cracked and he plays with them sometimes till they bleed a little. Generally in a day or two it stops when he is getting the OoO He is about 50lbs and I give him 4 drops.
