Good luck Bill. I remember what a scary thing it is to see your child driving away. Yikes! My first job was as a babysitter for a 4 year old boy, 8 to 5 for 5 days a week. I was 14. I don't remember what I was paid but I do remember getting stung by a scorpion while working. Ouch. But I lived through it and kept working. I later on went to work as an assembly line worker for Motorola (I HATED that job so much) then at a Press Clipping Service reading magazines for a living. While my children were small I ran a day care business at home so I could be home with them and raise them myself, instead of paying someone else to do it for me. (And I did raise them myself since I divorced their father when the baby was not even 1.) Later on I went to

work for the State of Arizona and that was the best thing I ever did because, as a result, I have a decent disability income and benefits. NOW CARS! My first car was an old black and white 1958 Ford that my Dad gave me. I was 14 and drove all over the desert backroads for several years in that thing. The next car was a pink and white 1958 Pontiac. I LOVED that car! I was 16 and it was a dream car. LOL Take care all and don't take a tumble while waltzing down memory lane. hugs))) SharonShirley wrote: 's gonna be driving. Oh boy! Are you nervous about it? But there's someone else to do errands for you. I don't know if my parents made me get a job? My first job, no taxes paid, was a saxophone teacher when I was in 8th grade. I did that off and on until I was 21 or so. My first paid job was in the popcorn galley at Lowe's Theatres. We had to do all of the addition and

subtraction in our head. Back in 1980 they didn't have such things as calculators.. But seriously we had to do it all in our heads. I didn't last long there because the manager told me he'd work around my Marching Band, Jazz Band and Symphonic Band schedules. He didn't. My music came first and I know my parents didn't mind me not working since I was so busy with after school things. I was also on WBDG the high school radio station. So I kept busy on my own. I think the first time they MADE me get a job was after my SR year before I went to Vincennes University. I worked in a deli that a neighbor lady

owned. I worked at VU too at the school but I don't remember what I did....lol Maybe cause I was just there a semester it didn't sink in....lol My parents bought me my first car for $800. It was a '72 Gran Torino with a 400 big block engine. Oh baby was it fast!....lol They bought me a car so they wouldn't have to take me to all of my band practices and such....lol I got it in late 1980 or in '81 and drove it until '85 or '86. So they got their $'s worth out of it. Shirley -- having a rough time Hi.I'm down in Disney now with my dad. I'm having fun, but I wish I felt better. My feet have been killing me for a few days now. Back and neck are a bad as usual. Suddenly felt weak after a ride today, and also experienced some dizzyness after a couple of rides. Rides I've been on before, and have never affected me. When we got back to the room, I was able to rest for a while and

took a little nap. Dinner was good, but walking over there was not fun, since my hip and back hurt a lot. I also had a hard time when I did the teacups. For a little while, I was able to spin myself around well. Then, my arms got weaker and weaker. Once it was over, I had to lie down for a little while. Had no strength left in my arms. Other than not feeling well, everything has been going well. Have had some really good food. Gonna do a little shopping tomorrow. Hopefully will be easier than the last few days. That's it for now.
