Guest guest
I was informed by a social woker at my nada's last hospitalization that she had BPD, and upon reading about it she is definately a classic case. However her axis 1 diagnosis at that time was major depressive disorder. Her new social worker, at her group home just informed me that they are changing her axis 1 diagnosis(primary diagnosis) to bipolar disorder. It makes sense to me because I always thought it was more than just depression..but in reading about bipolar disoder, it is very similar to BPD, in some aspects. Just wondering if anybody out there's nada has any mental health comorbidities, specifically bipolar disorder, and how you feel the diagnosises interact/feed into each other. My understanding is that her BPD can never be considered her official diagnosis and the feeling I have gotten from my interactions with her counselors,(and mine), is that BPD is generally dismissed by Dr.s in the mental health field. Any thoughts?
