Sher, the last I was at my Pulm. Dr. my nails were purplish ( I thought it was a pretty color)and she said if your nails are not pink any blue or purple put your air on. My second toe is very bulbed. I would love a french pedicure but the white would be on the floor.. so it's plain Jane for me.

Love and Prayers, Peggy 9/04 ipf Florida

Gale...I have the clubbing nails too. Nails turning downward. I have some of that on some of my toe nails too. My fingernails are purplish as well and are even sore!

Peggy.. you mentioned something about looking at some pictures from a few years ago and noticed red cuticles. I have been looking at my hands a lot lately, trying to figure out what " clubbing " is and I noticed that my fingernails (just past the cuticle) are beginning to look purple (or reddish). I have been puzzled about that. Is that what you saw? If so, I am no longer puzzled. It must be a symptom of the " monster " .. right? Love you: Gale in TX

My second toes on both feet are clubbed too. What a nuisance. I hate to get a pedicure because my fingers/toes look funny but I can't do my own anymore either.

Love ya. Sher

Schamroth's test or Schamroth's window test (originally demonstrated by South African cardiologist Dr Leo Schamroth on himself[2]) is a popular test for clubbing. When the distal phalanges of corresponding digits of opposite hands are directly apposed, fingernail to fingernail, a small diamond-shaped "window" is apparent between the nailbeds. If this window is obliterated, the test is positive and clubbing is present. Here is a self test for clubbing. Couldn't say it better (((LOL)) P PS ok everybody break you fingers now LOL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClubbingSher K Bauman wrote: ...my nails don't look like this picture. These nails look almost...infected. My nails grow downward over the tips of my fingers and the tip of my fingers are getting more bulbous. My nails still look 'normal' however. Just this strange rounded look and also purplish cuticles. Is this what is yet to

Now, , this is not the same explanation of this technique as you sent the first time....and not nearly so funny! I think I understood your explanation better than I understand 'distal phalanges of corresponding digits'...whut?
