Guest guest
So being a good mom I took her to the FNP who said, " No aches & pains, no antibiotics. " Then I texted a physician I know who said, " Always treat bulls eye rash. " I think his rationale was if you wait until aches, you've waited too long. I just read ever several websites & there seems to be no clear guidance. Her rash had a red, non-swollen, non hardened area (read it only happens in ~5% of bulleye though) with an outer ring and the entire area was slightly larger than a penny. I faded about a day after we saw it, don't know how long it was there prior. It was completely flat and non-itchy, so that leaves out ringworm to me. What say you all? I could not take due to a test so her dad took her. He said FNP stated if I " really wanted the antibiotics she could prescribe them. " That frustrated me too. I don't WANT her to be on antibiotics but I don't WANT her to get join pain, because that would mean damage already done. This seems to be my quandary, deal with potentially unnecessary antibiotic use or potentially stop Lyme? I guess when I put it that way the treatment seems like the worst of two evils? What's worse, right after he took her to FNP she had to go to 4-H camp for the week so I don't know how she's doing until Fri. Also, if I call her back & get the antibiotics, should I alert my county & the county we may have gotten it & inform them of the bullseye rash as a potential Lyme case? We were blackberry picking the day before we saw the rash on my MIL's property where deers do come up almost every evening, not to mention every other critter in East TN.
