Why I had WLSurgery:

In response to Robyn's very apt question, it was the diagnosis of

diabetes that made me wake up and smell the coffee. At the same time,

it was when I heard about the laproscopic version of the surgery too.

I felt I could handle that surgery since I had already had my gall

bladder removed laproscopically. But it was the diabetes that

convinced me I had to do something drastic.

I do think the surgery is drastic but not nearly as drastic as slow

death by diabetes is.

Like someone else mentioned, I could no longer fit gracefully into

restaurant booths or amusement park rides with my children. My

daughter was growing up without an active mother and I wanted to do

what I could to assure she would grow up with a mother.

45 lbs down since 12/21/04 and fitting better into booths and clothes

and all that jazz,

Gracie
