Guest guest
Years ago I was allergy tested and told to stay away from wheat and dairy. I found out I could have some cheese and that didn't bother me but milk did me in. How my allergy affected me was to fill my ear with fluid and a pus-like stuff (sorry folks). My ear drum would be bulging with it but I didn't have an infection. I didn't eat wheat for about 5 years then I slowly was able to go back to wheat and I was fine. Now I think the allergy has come back except this time it's manifested with headaches. If I have toast or pizza, for example, I have a headache within 5 minutes. I may need to get tested again. I was last tested in 1975 and reacted to lots of things but wheat and dairy were the only foods. Sharon Re: Bowel issues & MS :One thing I sorted out after MS dx ... I'd spent the last few years with repetitive diarrhea, but have kids with medical issues so just got used to mine and forgot to connect dots. Later tried yanking wheat from my diet, trying a variation of Best Bet for MS diet. Dang if removign wheat didn't stop the diarrhea. Obviously not an issue for everyone - realize I have a kid with extremely severe food allergies, so it makes sense that I could also have food issues. I had a known reaction to corn, but hadn't connected to what I figured out at 37 - wheat = diarrhea, dairy = migraine. It wasn't always this way - our bodies can change over time - but it's something to be aware of as a possibility. Amy > > Hey...I get those too. Guest guest
I have cystic fibrosis as well as MS, and take pancreatic enzymes daily. These are not without risk, whether prescribed or purchased; too many can cause striations accross the colon. Do let your physician know that you are taking them. These are especially useful in cystic fibrosis, and in anyone with AGE as a factor, as we all produce less pancrease, lipase and amylase with age. Guest guest
Your best bet is to go "low and slow". At first, just use a sprinkle, then a little more the next day. I took too much the first time, and I felt it as it moved all the way thru my system. Didn't feel too good. Discovered I had an ulcer - the protease will make it raw, but it got better in a few days.Suekatelloydkidz@... wrote: Funny~; Jeff who was on this group briefly, and who is on MS Views, advised the same to me; I bought it yesterday-Mega-zyme; digestive enzymes. But it does have all 3 of the enzymes-protease, amylase and lipase. Amylase breaks down carbs/grains and lipase, as it sounds, breaks down fats. thanks for sharing your wisdom! blessings, kate> If you have intolerances to wheat, dairy, or other foods (but > not celiac's) you can try digestive enzymes. Guest guest
My hat's off to you for sure. I know when I was not eating wheat I got pretty creative but it must be very, very difficult for you with all you have to avoid. I hope the testing goes well at the hospital next week.
