Guest guest
Hi Liz, I couldn't get my levels of E up on the base dose of WP either..for 2 yrs I tried and kept raising the E. Then I met with the PA that still prescribes for me. My BASE dose now is 8 lines of 2mg/per line of E..and it works! I also thought that there must be something wrong with me that I could not get my E levels up over 140(that was the highest they usually much lower)..and still had side affects..HF, no sleep, bitchy, crying, bloated with weight gain, cold sores on my lip broke out, and on and on! I could tolerate the WP P for a couple of months with no side affects..then I started to get what "I" thought was a UTI AND yeast infection, went to the ER because I was in PAIN and it was a weekend..and NO UTI was found, nor yeast. I was at day 20-something, and put it together that it was WP's P, and went to compounded ORAL P, and voila! NO side affects, and a monthly bleed. The WP P was WAY too much for me, I should note that I NEVER used the full base dose of WP P because from the beginning of it it made me CRAZY! ALL the side effects that everyone has mentioned here and more! The oral works better as not as much is available for the body. P does block E..that's how the monthly bleed happens..IF your E is high enough. Because everybody's body is different, it's hard to say..maybe the pellets will work for YOU..BUT, like any static dose, and especially with something that's put in you and you can't remove them yourself..they will lose strength over time, like a patch. Creams you can always put more on..or less. This PA also told me to put it(E) on 3 times a day(total amount divided by 3) on day 12. I feel better like this..maybe because I've been under a lot of stress, and stress makes your body BURN right through E!!! I would worry more about not enough E giving you cancer that too much causing it. When you were reproductive you had LOTS of E..and you didn't get cancer then. Cancer risk is high in POST-Menopausal women..gee, I wonder why? E is a growth hormone, so IF there were cancer cells already there, then it would cause it to grow..it will not cause cancer cells to just pop up. Drs STILL do not understand women's hormones, nor men's for that matter! EVEN Endocrinologists. They only know what the drug reps tell them, and their phony "studies". Think about it..look at all the Atty ads for FDA-Approved drugs causing great harm and death AFTER they were FDA cleared! It's a money game, that's all. As far as WP..some may say that "I" am not on it because of the dose, and that I use oral P..well, who cares WHAT they call it, because as long as my blood serum levels are high enough, and my FSH stays below 10 like it has been, then I am happy. I also feel good, and can actually handle my Grandbabies(9 and 10 mos) that I babysit every day!! My sex life is great, which has helped so much with my marriage, and THAT helps me handle the other stress in my life. I guess my point is, that maybe if you did use E cream at a high enough dose that you could get your levels up that way?? Personally I would not want pellets IN me, but if I tried it and it worked for ME, then I guess I would do it. I've understood that gels are quicker absorbing than creams, have you tried gels? I still think that the doses you had were too low..just my HUMBLE opinion!TerriTo: rhythmicliving Sent: Sunday, October 9, 2011 9:38 PMSubject: Re: Terri Terri, Thank you for this! I really do appreciate it. So are you saying that you had to get your E levels up FIRST before you introduced the P? And HOW did you get your E levels up? That is my challenge. I never used just P after my hyst. I swore I would never use it again after the depression/anxiety and then cancer. BUT then I got sucked into the WP thinking as I was pretty bad off. I had not used any hormones for 2 years after my hyst. The drs put the fear of God in me that if I used any E I would get cancer again. Sadly, years later, I learned they were all wrong. I SUFFERED :-( And now I suffer from the ramifications of being on the WP. When on that protocol, I at one point was on double the amount of E prescribed and the normal amount of P. NEVER did my levels go over 200 on day 12 and that was only once. While on double, they got to 100. And my P level only got to 4 once on day 21. I did it. I tried the cycling for a year. It was horrible. And then all hell broke loose. Anyways 6 years later, Iâ€m still battling to get my E up. The last 2 tests I was at 55. My FSH is always high also. I CAN NOT get my E up. So that is the reason why I want to try E pellets. I use a tiny, tiny bit of P cream vaginally. I can tell it helps me go to sleep but I do not want to use any more as I’m afraid that, again, as my E levels are not up, I will make for bad things. Liz Liz, I too wish that I could check my levels whenever I want, instantly! Maybe we should invent some device?! It sounds like when you had your Hst, you were told that P is what you needed? Well, P is only made at ovulation, it comes from the corpus luteum(the sac from the egg from the ovary). That's why when one becomes pregnant the placenta now takes over the production of "P", and the level doubles every day in the first couple of months, which is why some women get morning sickness, I NEVER vomited during ANY of my pregnancies. It is NOT an anti-depressant! Now "E" IS a natural anti-depressant. That is why it is sometimes not good to "follow symptoms" when using BHRT as Dr Reiss encourages..one should replace what is needed, and only in the amount that can give desirable blood serum levels also. Left to their own devices, some women would be using an astronomical amounts of "E" because they feel so good!! Static doses..hmmm..now this is why "I" believe that they are dangerous: 1.) Hormones made in and by the body flow and ebb. 2.) The body needs to have the "dying off" of cells, "E" is a growth hormone, "P" will pull the plug so to speak, such as in the uterine lining, but ONLY if ENOUGH "E" is produced. "P" has this effect everywhere in your body, not just your uterus. If you have too much "P", and no/not enough "E", you screw up your major hormone levels(Insulin, blood pressure, thyroid, etc.)and THAT is what causes so many illnesses in post-menopausal women AND men. When one is high in "P" and low/No "E" you also become AUTO-IMMUNE..hence Fibro, depression, anxiety, MS, etc. are all related to loss of minor hormones(sex hormones). In fact, "P" that is produced by pregnancy is the reason pregnant women are more at risk from the Flu, and allergies, also why women gain weight easily during pregnancy, to feed and cushion the fetus. The reason for this is to protect the growing fetus, even though "E" levels are higher also, they are still way lower than "P". Now, at 51 there is no fetus, so what do YOU think will happen if your body is high in "P", and now NO "E"? OR, at 51 and a steady, static dose of "some" "E", or "P"? I personally need what some would call very high doses of "E"..however, I cannot use any TOPICAL "P" or I will have ALL of these symptoms that I read about here from other women. I was "there" too. Topical "P" is much more utilized by the body than oral, because of the "first pass" from the liver, so for ME, the oral is the magic bullet. Once my blood serum levels got high enough with "E", I then knew I was on the right track, and then the oral "P" "worked"..for ME. I felt better, looked better(I am 52 and people don't believe that I am 52, they think that I am 37-38. I also gave birth to 9 children..so I have been exposed to high levels of hormones many, many times over thse 52 years!)and all the bloating that I developed left..like water-weight..just fell away much to my relief. I also had a sex life again! My marriage is better now than when I got married 25 yrs ago because we are older and can appreciate each other, AND have hot sex!! How great is that?? I have more than enough lubrication, and actually the sensations that had disappeared, returned! SO many marriages fall apart at menopause, and mine was not great, but getting my hormones back really, really changed all that. I had HORRIBLE anxiety/panic attacks before I had children and after..but felt WONDERFUL during pregnancy. Then after I would deliver, I had HORRIBLE post-partum depression with "some" of my babies, but not all. This when NO ONE spoke about these issues!!! It made me a real trail-blazer trying to get some answers so I could feel better!! Read what I just said about my pregnancies and post-partum, do you see what was missing?? It was enough "E"!! Anyone reading this, please look at the side effects of low/no "E"..it just screams that the symptoms are from missing "E"! The key to all of this is replacing what YOUR body needs, in a way that YOUR body can receive it, in a cycle like your body did when you were still able to reproduce. I am NOT trying to sound like Wiley here, but it DOES make perfect scientific sense..we were not meant to outlive our reproductive use, no species is. Think about it.
