Guest guest
, Was it you who was looking into HANDWRITING WITHOUT TEARS last Spring? Kendra's OT, who we love, is doing wonderful work with Kendra with this approach. She is RE-teaching Kendra how to do the strokes in the right order of strokes from top to bottom, or bottom to top as the case may be and how to do them staying within the lines. This is hard because Kendra learned to write several years ago. However, she is really dysgraphic. Of course, it seems harder to re-teach something and get rid of bad habits, than to teach correctly from the beginning, but this is working phenomenally well. This process is essentially re-teaching Kendra and I am very impressed with the results. The OT comes up with great new ideas all the time and attended a HANDWRITING WITHOUT TEARS workshop recently. Some of the things she has used that have helped include: raised line paper, writing with sponges on small blackboards that have raised borders, using squares to write the letters within the confines of the square, using glue outlines of pictures to raise the border (as Michele and at least one other person says they have utilized also), and hand over hand. She also is working on Kendra's pencil grip. Have you seen this program utilized and are you pleased? Mom to Kendra, and Camille
