Guest guest
, I have been clawed and bitten by cats so many times, so I really feel for you. I agree that animal scratches can become infected so easily. The only thing worse is an animal bite, because of the saliva. If those scratches start feeling hot, or have yellowy scabs, you get them checked for infection right away. If the scratches were deep enough to cause that much bleeding, you really do need to watch them. If a Drs visit is too costly for you so that you want to see first if you think you need it, then keep the wounds clean, open the scabs if they are sligthly yellowy and squeeze out some blood (fairly liberally). If the blood seems to have pus in it, go to the doctor. If not, have someone pour hydrogen peroxide on the wounds a few times, or until it doesn't fiz when applied (if it is in an awkward place or a large area, you can lean over the tub for this). Then pat dry with clean gauze and cover the wounds. Check for a few days and repeat this process if needed. If you have tea tree oil apply it several times a day with a q-tip to keep the wound site clean of unfriendly bacteria and to draw out poisons. If the wound area is hot after a couple of days though, you really need to have it checked and will probably have to take a course of anti-biotics to keep it from developing gangrene. If you do go on anti-biotics, please eat yogurt a few times a day or take acidophilous (the preference as many yogurts these days do not contain enough live cultures) to fight yeast infection. Promise to take care of yourself, ok. {{{Gentle Hugs}}} Doni-Marie _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
